"Giving CPR to my son who is unconscious while we wait for the ambulance to arrive, I always knew that he would pull through it."

San Diego high school baseball pitcher, Dylan, was born with a single ventricle heart; his heart on the opposite side of his chest and backwards. In 2018, he was forced to be placed on the waiting list for a new heart following an almost fatal heart attack that sent him into cardiac arrest. In July of 2018, Dylan was provided a perfect match and underwent heart transplant surgery. Upon receiving his new heart, his surgery team nominated Dylan as a candidate for a post-hospital release gift from California-based charity, Wellcome Home Kids, which strives to encourage perseverance in organ transplant children once they leave the comfort of the hospital and are released to go home. WHK founder and President, Brittany Adams, WHK Board, and volunteers, were so excited to receive Dylan’s application and have the opportunity to help him start his life again. Their mission was to encourage him to stay on the path he dreamt of in baseball and have the chance to play in the Spring of his senior year…and he did!
