A sceptic. A paranoiac. A criminal. A migrant. A hostage.
Minola Theatre presents BEGOTTEN, a five-part audio drama by award-winning playwright Bianca Butler Reynolds. Join us each week as we meet five generations of women: Alice, Eileen, Clea, Hazel and Laoise. Hear a century of their stories, encompassing grief, war, sanity, loss and revenge. Listen as they grapple with powerful questions about heredity, and what is passed down family lines. Are we doomed to make the same mistakes our parents did? Can we heal a wound that is generations old? How much do the secrets of the past haunt us in the present?
Stage Whispers calls BEGOTTEN “a fascinating tapestry” with “superb sound design” and “visual images that sing”. Audiences praise it as “emotional”, “raw”, “powerful”, “spellbinding” and “heart touching”. Alice
"My temper's too short and I break down like its a hobby, and the thought of being that responsible for any other living thing, that much of the time, just turned me to... I don't know. Flame."
Australia, 2019. Alice reflects on school bus bullying, a life-altering decision, and the one person who just might change everything. Part one of Minola Theatre's BEGOTTEN.

Eileen
"I threw all the knives away yesterday. Just in case the two of them get any ideas. Not that I think they'd really attack me, not normally, but maybe when they're angry, maybe the next time John gets mad because I say something irrational... Maybe then. It's possible."
Australia, 1998. Eileen is surrounded by enemies: the computer players who beat her at Hearts; the naughty woman who swears in her head; and the husband and daughter who just might kill her in her sleep. Part two of Minola Theatre's BEGOTTEN.

"...If all of Hitler's planes are flying west, there must be somewhere east that's quite untouched. Somewhere far enough away that nothing reaches. Not even a war. Not even everybody knowing what you've done."
England, 1941. Hazel spends the Blitz beneath the streets of the East End, haunted by a green skirt, a seaside hotel, and the boy who brought her here. Part four of BEGOTTEN by Minola Theatre.

Surprisingly good
I found this podcast when searching for Aussie made podcasts. I wasn’t entirely sure if I would like it but I gave the episodes a shot and I’m so happy I did! This series is so different from anything I’ve heard. I don’t want to give anything away, because it was fun figuring out what was happening, but give this one a listen. The episodes aren’t that long; you could potentially finish it on your commute. But seriously, listen. I finished the last episode and honestly thought to myself, “that was really good.” I hope you do too. Brissie has some seriously good stuff coming out of it!!
