Money is taboo. We’d rather discuss our sex lives or religious beliefs than our finances. Yet by not talking about something as powerful and important as money, we have nowhere to share our fears, insecurities, hopes and wants.

Host Sarah Li-Cain wants to make money more approachable by having frank and honest conversations. Each episode, her and her guests candidly discuss a topic at the intersection of money and life. It becomes a space where wins, failures, happiness, shame and everything in between gets its turn.

Changing the mindset around money

As someone who grew up with a lot of baggage around money, Sarah’s approach to the conversation is a game changer. I’m learning so much and finding it refreshing to hear this angle on money. It doesn’t have to be shameful, stressful, or even hard!

Intersection of Life & Money

I really enjoy this podcast as it helps to break down the taboos and conversational barriers to talk about money and its impact in all aspects of our lives. The guests get really vulnerable and share their own money stories which allows me to connect with them and learn from their examples. This podcast is a must-listen as it fills the gap that other money podcasts don’t cover!

Money and Meaning

I love personal finance topics that are a little off-beat (such as those having to do with mental health, creativity, and the conundrums of self-promotion). The guests on this podcast are amazingly articulate and fascinating while tackling such overlooked territory. I first found this podcast when Sarah Li Cain was a guest on the Marriage, Kids, and Money podcast with Andy Hill. As a teacher with several creative side-hustles myself, I was fascinated by her story of moving from education to writing when she had her child. I don’t plan on having such a path, but I love the connections she has to education. She is an open-minded host steering the conversations to places that matter concerning the struggles facing her listeners. This is a podcast I will return to again and again (even though I will miss the co-host Garrett and his occasional commentary about music and the music industry).
