Customer Reviews
Good but nah for me
I’m desperate to like this podcast because the content is there for me but the main and I are too similar in our intense opinions regarding movies only I keep landing on the other side of things. Ends up being a rage listen for me, there’s not enough nuance in the reviews - giving 5 stars cos it’s worth a shot if you don’t see red every time you listen!
This Show is Fantastic!!!!
I love these guys! They provide great insider information on Horror News & the entertainment industry in general. I Love Horror Films & Hollywood discussions & They really know their stuff when it comes to box office & industry specifics. They also take time to highlight films that are hidden gems. My first episode I listened to was FALCON LAKE & it was a great discussion & turned me onto a wonderful film. I am on this show’s wavelength & I hope they continue covering horror news for years to come. Great insight & fun discussions.
Would recommend!
Great podcast but -
I enjoy this podcast generally and love the rapport between Brett and Jesse. Thinking of their reviews, especially Brett’s comments in their review of Everything Everywhere All At Once (EEAO) and Master, I realize the hosts absolutely cannot speak on people of color’s experiences in film. It might help to bring on actual POC to discuss films that the hosts are not adequately equipped for and/or cannot understand.
In the EEAO review, Brett’s comment about how “all these recent movies about mother-daughter relationships say the same thing” (paraphrasing here) was really disappointing to hear. It’s clear to me that Brett absolutely cannot speak on the experiences of women, let alone POC and their mothers. Brett, please give us your exhaustive list of other Asian American-directed films about immigrant mothers’ relationships with their queer American daughters, if that’s so overdone. I’d love to see that tbh.
Listening to your Beau is Afraid review and how Beau’s relationship with his mother resonated with you so much, I realize Brett really needs to expand his empathy past an incredibly limited worldview. That being said I agree with everything *else* Brett and Jesse said about EEAO.
