Dell Announces NativeEdge 2.0 for Enhanced Edge Operations

Dell Announces NativeEdge 2.0 for Enhanced Edge Operations

Dell has announced the launch of Dell NativeEdge 2.0, a significant update to its industry-leading edge operations software platform.
Dell NativeEdge is an innovative edge operations software platform bringing computation and data processing closer to the source, helping businesses optimise the full potential of data securely so they can make faster decisions and leverage AI applications at the edge for real-time insights, actions, and automation.
Native Edge 2.0 will empower organisations to simplify, secure and scale their edge deployments, and help unlock the full potential of edge computing.
NativeEdge 2.0 introduces Blueprints, which are like easy-to-follow plans for setting up applications. With Blueprints deploying industry applications across different places and devices is as simple as clicking a button. Blueprints automate the entire process, saving time, effort, and resources.
IT professionals can easily define application settings, infrastructure requirements, network configurations, and customer workflows - all within a single file. This single Blueprint can then be deployed across various Edge devices or throughout various development stages, ensuring consistency and compliance.
Dell NativeEdge 2.0 is more secure with features like a virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM) and UEFI secure boot capabilities, aligning with Zero Trust principles to enhance edge security and compliance. These features safeguard edge deployments by validating platform integrity and preventing unauthorised software execution.
"Edge computing is transforming the way businesses operate, innovate, and compete in today's digital world," said Gil Shneorson, Senior Vice President for Solutions Platforms at Dell Technologies. "By locating computation and data processing closer to where data is generated, it is possible to make decisions faster and leverage AI applications at the edge. However, the task of managing edge operations across diverse locations, devices, and applications can be daunting and expensive.
Now, there's a solution to these complexities: Dell NativeEdge, an innovative edge operations software platform designed to simplify, optimise, and secure your entire edge estate."
Dell is introducing three-year subscription plans for NativeEdge, offering more choices to meet your needs depending on your edge requirements and preferences. With the three-year subscription plans, you can enjoy longer-term savings and benefits, such as lower costs and predictable budgeting.

We have the insight into what the industry is saying Bobby Smith, Head of Energy Storage Ireland (ESI)

We have the insight into what the industry is saying Bobby Smith, Head of Energy Storage Ireland (ESI)

Energy storage is one of the fastest growing segments within the power sector. This growth is mainly driven by battery storage, but other forms of energy storage such as green hydrogen are also becoming prominent, all of which will prove crucial to unlocking Ireland's full renewable potential.
By developing more energy storage capacity, Ireland can reduce dependence on fossil fuels more rapidly, ensure lights stay on and help reduce energy costs. Although battery storage is an established and proven technology, the potential of energy storage is not yet well known in Ireland.
Last September, a KPMG report commissioned by ESI and Greentech Skillnet outlined that the energy storage sector has a key role to play in helping Ireland reduce carbon emissions and provide cleaner, cheaper energy to Irish consumers. It also stated that the sector could create thousands of new jobs by 2035. One person who can provide insights into this is Bobby Smith, Head of Energy Storage Ireland and Ronan recently spoke to him.
Bobby talks about his background, what Energy Storage Ireland does, the KPMG report commissioned by ESI and Greentech Skillnet and more.
    More about Energy Storage Ireland:
Energy Storage Ireland represents over 50 organisations from across the energy storage supply chain, and their members include both private sector enterprises and state-owned companies such as Coillte and the ESB.

Call-out to Ambitious Aquatech Companies to Apply for 2024 Bim Innovation Studio

Call-out to Ambitious Aquatech Companies to Apply for 2024 Bim Innovation Studio

Ambitious aquatech businesses are invited to apply for a ground breaking Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) mentoring programme in a sector which has just attracted a €15 million investment from the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF).
The ISIF has announced the investment to Hatch's Blue Revolution Fund which focuses on early-stage companies who have the potential to transform aquatech.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue today announced that BIM is partnering again this year with aquaculture accelerator Hatch Blue for its popular Innovation Studio.
This is a free, intensive two-week programme aimed at supporting young aquatech companies in all aspects of development including technology and investment. BIM's Aquatech Development Programme is supported by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (2021 - 2027) with an investment of €380,000 in 2024.
The aim of the BIM Innovation Studio is to grow Ireland's €200 million aquatech business and to position the country as the "Silicon Valley" of the sector.
Now in its seventh year, some 50 projects and companies have completed the Innovation Studio and have attracted a total investment of around €15 million, creating more than 200 hi-tech jobs.
"I am delighted to announce applications are open for the 2024 BIM Innovation Studio which has fostered a wealth of innovation, energy and talent in Ireland's growing aquatech sector since its inception seven years ago," said Minister McConalogue. "This programme offers a unique opportunity for companies with technology applicable to the globally important aquaculture sector to improve their investor readiness and increase market access.
"Ireland is leading the way in the development of the aquatech sector with some 60 Irish aquatech companies turning over €200 million in 2022 with the potential for significant growth and job creation."
The Minister welcomed the €15 million investment by ISIF in the Blue Revolution Fund which invests in early stage aquatech companies. "This is a huge vote of confidence in the sector which has enormous potential. Aquatech companies can advance the health of the oceans while providing sustainable seafood regenerative ecosystem services and community benefits."
Aquatech is any technology or innovation driving sustainable seafood farming, and it can be applied progressively to the breeding, raising, and harvesting of fish, shellfish, and aquatic plants.
The BIM Innovation Studio offers opportunities for companies in areas such as pharmaceuticals, marine engineering, genetics, feed additives and artificial intelligence.
Applications for the BIM Innovation Studio are open until 19 July 2024. The BIM Innovation Studio takes place from 1 to 10 October at the Lee Hotel, Cork City. Several companies will then be selected to pitch at the BIM Aquatech Conference on 11 October, where the winner of the BIM Aquatech Business of the Year 2024 will also be announced.
"The BIM Aquatech Innovation Studio provides a springboard for aquatech innovations, connecting participants with industry experts, mentors, and investors worldwide," said Jessica Giannoumis, Hatch Blue's Aquatech Community Manager for Ireland. "Whether it's sensor technology, alternative seafood solutions, or water management strategies, this is the ultimate opportunity to refine your aquatech vision."
Eight to ten successful applicants will be matched with experienced mentors to further develop their business strategy, product or service. They will also have access to a global network of aquaculture technical experts.
Several companies involved in the 2023 Innovation Studio attended a delegation to Southeast Asia last year with Hatch to grow their network and learn more about their potential market. The delegation has secured potential business opportunities on foot of this.

Hard on the ears

The content in this podcast is just ok.
The fact that the voice sounds like a porn bot is bad enough, but what’s worse is this is an “Irish” podcast with a British VoiceOver accent. I unsubscribed, it was painful to listen to.
