    Allergic to Myself

    Allergic to Myself

The journey to start advocating for myself happened after returning from the hospital with a severe allergic reaction, to myself. It was hard to believe and understand because I was consistently named as one of Pennsylvania’s top 50 female attorneys, I had been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers and I’d also just started a media career as a legal expert making appearances on TV news.  But also at the time, I was on back-to-back trials, under pressure, and in a bad relationship.
Anyone looking at me from the outside would have thought I had it all: a great job, six figure salary, a boyfriend, a condo, a media career, but I wanted more. I knew I wanted to write a book, to start a podcast, to use my psychology degree, to have a relationship with someone who was more supportive. It was at this point that I decided that no-one else was going to help me, so I had to help myself and become my own advocate.
All of my dreams lay on the other side of advocating for myself, and yours do too. Stay tuned to this podcast to get the tools you need to advocate for yourself. I can help you to advocate for yourself through my private podcast, my mastermind and through my one-on-one coaching program. You need to identify what you want, own it and seek it out. And I’m here to help you do that.
Listen through the final ending of this podcast, where I will answer the questions that I was asked from my private podcast clients and learn whether or not I won the trial!

    Alisa Cohn & Growing Up

    Alisa Cohn & Growing Up

It was a pleasure interviewing my guest Alisa Cohn today. Alisa has been nominated as the Top Startup Coach in the World by  Thinkers50/Marshall Goldsmith Global Coaches Awards in London, she’s worked with companies such as Venmo, DraftKings, and Etsy, and has coached CEOs and C-suite executives of Dell, Google, Microsoft and Calvin Klein. Around her guest lecturing schedule at Harvard and Cornell, she also writes articles that have appeared in publications such as Forbes, has had TV appearances on BBC World New and Bloomberg TV, and she’s a keen amateur rapper.  Alisa and I sit down to discuss her new book ‘From Start-Up to Grown-Up’, which is her complete guide to achieve personal and professional success. The book is split into three sections, first talking about managing yourself, then talking about managing your team, and then managing your company. Her advice is relevant to everyone, regardless of whether or not you have started your own company, because as Alisa points out, we all have to learn to manage ourselves first, and we eventually build up towards managing others, whether that’s in our personal or professional lives.

    I've Got You Energy

    I've Got You Energy

Have you ever hired someone to do something for you and you just know it’s going to be done correctly? Or have you assigned someone a job to do at work and you know that they are going to get the work done no matter what? This is what I call the “I’ve Got You Energy.”
Today on The Elegant Warrior Podcast, I will be discussing in detail what the “I’ve Got You Energy” is and how you can become the person that others know will complete a given task no matter what obstacles get in your way. This energy can be life changing for you on the receiving end as well as the giving end, and I will go over ways that will help you get better at both.

    Darcy Eikenberg & Rescuing Yourself

    Darcy Eikenberg & Rescuing Yourself

Today, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Darcy Eikenberg. She is a leadership and career coach and the author of the book, Red Cape Rescue: Save Your Career Without Leaving Your Job. Her mission and the mission  of this book is “to help us change our lives at work without having to change everything in our lives.”
We will take a deep dive into the 3 sections of her book; Reset How You Think, Revise What You Say and Reinvent What You Do. It seems to be the norm that when you don’t like what you are doing at work or you begin to get bored that you move companies and make a career change. So, I found it very interesting how she has come up with a way of helping people and showing them how they don’t have to completely change their lives but yet still be fulfilled and excited about getting up for work everyday.

    You Are Capable

    You Are Capable

On this episode of The Elegant Warrior Podcast, I discuss the simple fact that you are capable.
Recognizing your capability is a key part of becoming your own advocate. It’s also the first stage in being able to take risks, and if you’re not taking risks, you’re not opening yourself up to all the potential opportunities that come with the risk.
I believe in you and your capability, because by listening to this podcast, you’re showing me and yourself that you’re interested in getting comfortable with risk and with seizing opportunities. When you’re doing that, you’re advocating for yourself.
Please reach out to me to let me know how you’re advocating for yourself and how you have discovered your own capabilities; I love hearing your inspiring stories.

Courtney E. Ackerman and The Book of Patience

Courtney E. Ackerman and The Book of Patience

On today’s episode of The Elegant Warrior podcast, I invite special guest author and researcher Courtney Ackerman on to the show to talk about her new book, ‘The Book of Patience’. Courtney has compiled 250 tips, tricks and thought-provoking ideas to help us to become more patient, which is something that is so relevant and necessary as we all wait for COVID-19 restrictions to stop dominating our lives.
I love her book as her advice is so intuitive and it’s the kind of book that encourages you to flick through it over and over again. Courtney’s approach is to give different kinds of advice and to illustrate her point in several ways so that you can find the parts that resonate with you the most. She emphasizes that patience is a choice that we have to make - perhaps we can’t change the situation that we’re in, but we can work on our mindset to change how we feel about it. When we apply this technique, our patience will grow over time, like a muscle.
Listen in to find out how to embrace the downtime and how practicing the art of patience will help you to reconnect with the world around you and feel like you’re a small part of a whole. Once you make room for patience in your life, you’d be surprised what other positive changes come along too!

How our early life dictates our entire life

Great stories of survival - first as a child surviving an accident that took her sister and then again when her husband was medically not a part of the family and life's daily living. It's clear Ms Zimmerman was already prepared for life and loss....grabbed bull by horn and survived again and not only survived, but in their name, florished, with Elegance.
Heather has a way of picking her speakers in a way to put the pieces together in our life! Thank you HH.
