    Matt Baum:
I’m Matt Baum and this is the Ministry of Hemp Podcast brought to you by ministryofhemp.com. America’s leading advocate for hemp and hemp education. Hello again, and welcome to another episode of the Ministry of Hemp Podcast. Today on the show, we are going to talk about testing. And when I say testing, I of course mean, testing hemp plants. Not just to see the level of THC, to see if they’re legal or not, but to see the level of CBD, CBDA, and several other cannabinoids.

    Matt Baum:
Testing has been a real issue. And not too long ago, on this show, I talked about how the DEA admitted that they don’t have the time or the people to get it done. So, it looks more and more they’re going to allow independent testing, which is cool, but we’ve all got to get on the same page. First, how are we doing those tests?

Matt Baum: What are acceptable results and can those results be repeated? It’s a huge question and it’s been a giant problem for growers, for extractors, for anybody in the business. Cree Crawford from Cann-ID is going to talk about a new and pretty exciting testing process that they came up with. But first, I thought we should address the elephant in the room and let’s talk about being quarantined for a little bit, shall we?

CBD & anxiety during COVID19 isolation

    Matt Baum:
This past week has been strange, to say the least. And for the first time that I can think of in my life, we all have something in common in the sense that we’re all spending a lot more time in one place. For me, its home, which makes me lucky, because

Below is the complete transcript of episode 33 of the Ministry of Hemp podcast.

    Matt Baum:
I’m Matt Baum and this is the Ministry of Hemp Podcast, brought to you by MinistryOfHemp.com, America’s leading advocate for him and hemp education.

    Matt Baum:
Welcome back to a another edition of the Ministry of Hemp Podcast. My name’s Matt Baum and I am your host and today in the show we are going to talk about Azuca, a company created by a chef that is infusing CBD into sugar in small packets to help you with your dosage. It’s very cool. But before we do that, let’s take a minute to talk about the coronavirus.

    CBD & fake coronavirus cures

    Matt Baum:
The novel coronavirus, or COVID-19 as it’s been called, has dominated the news cycle recently and for good reason, it’s dangerous. The NBA has canceled their season along with the NHL. March Madness is canceled. Baseball doesn’t know if it can get started. As of Tuesday of this week, things seemed to ratchet up very quickly in the news and the United States woke up to the fact that this is serious and it’s probably going to affect a large chunk of the population.

    Matt Baum:
Now with a warning like this comes a lot of misinformation. Just last week, disgraced televangelist Jim Bakker got a cease and desist letter from the state of Missouri for selling a fake cure. Alex Jones of InfoWars fame also just received a cease and desist for selling fake coronavirus cures. And of course there are people on the internet saying that CBD can cure of coronavirus. This is absolutely false.

    Matt Baum:
CBD will not cure the coronavirus. It can be used to help with pain. It can use to help with anxiety centered around the coronavirus, sure. But I repeat, it is not a cure for the coronavirus. And if you find a site or a person or a shop that is selling CBD and saying that it is a cure or even preventative, they are lying to

    Matt Baum:
I’m Matt Baum, and this is the Ministry of Hemp podcast brought to you by ministryofhemp.com, America’s leading advocate for hemp and hemp education.

    Matt Baum:
Welcome back to another episode of the Ministry of Hemp podcast. My name is Matt Baum. I’m your host, and today we’re going to talk about Kentucky. But first there is some good news for embattled hemp farmers out there coming out of the USDA, for a change that is.

USDA delays provisions of hemp regulations

    Matt Baum:
At the end of February, the US Department of Agriculture announced that they are temporarily going to be delaying the enforcement of two provisions of its hemp regulations. Hemp producers will not be required to use a laboratory registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration or the DEA to conduct potency tests on their crops, and this is at least for now and for the time being and possibly even more importantly, farmers that test over 0.03% for THC in their hemp crop will not be forced to destroy those crops. Now, it’s not because the DEA came to their senses or they listened to a lot of the farmers that weren’t crazy about these provisions at all. Actually it comes down to the fact that there just isn’t a sufficient capacity in the United States for the testing and disposal of noncompliant hemp plants. The DEA just doesn’t have the time or budget for this kind of enforcement when they’re already fighting a war on real illegal drugs.

    Matt Baum:
The changes come in response to feedback from an industry stakeholders, many of which argued that the policies that were included in the USDA’s interim final rule on hemp woul

Matt Baum: As you’ve probably heard, there are a lot of false claims and bad information about CBD out there. And today on the show, we’re going to talk to somebody that is taking hemp education to the streets. Her name is Maggie Frank and she is the national educator for PlusCBD Oil. PlusCBD are good buddies of ours over at ministryofhemp.com. You can find them in our top brand section.

Matt Baum: Not only are they a great company putting out great CBD, PlusCBD was also one of the first companies to hire and send a national educator out in the wild to teach people about the benefits of CBD, how to take it, how and why it works, and to dispel some of the myths that are out there. But before we get into that, there are some pretty exciting news coming out of California on the subject of hemp education as well.

Cannabis research at the University of California

    Matt Baum:
Last year, The University of California, Davis set up one of the nation’s first cannabis institutes. And just recently, they’ve named two researchers, a schizophrenia researcher and a plant expert to lead its new center for the research in study of hemp and marijuana. UC, Davis has named professors, Cameron Carter and Lee Tian as co-directors of its cannabis and hemp research center, which is charged with increasing academic collaboration around hemp and marijuana, and establishing external partnerships related to cannabis.

    Matt Baum:
What this means is we now have an American research center on a well-respected agricultural college that is going to actually start doing the first real American research into hemp and mariju

The tough part can be understanding how to take it.

    Matt Baum:

Different labels say different things. They have milligrams on them. They have percentages of CBD. If it’s an oil, can I put it on food? Should I put it under my tongue? If it’s a pill, how many do I take? What do I need? It can all be really confusing. But one of the products we’re going to talk about today is taking a lot of that confusion out of it, and just allowing you to pour a powdered version into a drink. Whic

Entertaining hemp and cannabis podcast

Enjoying the podcast very much. Professionally produced, high quality guests, and Matt is a great interviewer. There is a lot of noise about the same topics in this space (CBD) so I appreciate the breadth of focus and attention to fiber and seed.
