    • Astronomy

The International Space Station is a unique microgravity laboratory, allowing us to carry out science and research that wouldn't be possible on Earth. ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano will support over 50 European experiments during his Beyond mission to the International Space Station. These cover a number of different disciplines including human physiology, biology, fluid physics, technology demonstrations, material science, environmental science and more.

In this episode, hosts Ally Koehler and Stephen Ennis speak with Chloe Audus of ESA’s International Space Station research planning team and Marco Carrano of ESA’s astronaut training team. Chloe and Marco work behind the scenes, alongside many others, to make sure European science experiments on the International Space Station run smoothly. They give a bit of insight into the science Luca will perform.
