Informative Informal Chats
Mat does a great job of steering the conversation and covering interesting tabletop topics! Each episode is different and fun, and gives me inspiration for my own games.
Has some teeth to it
A ttrpg podcast revolves around isolated experiences and opinionated ramblings, these two manage to keep it interesting with a structured topical episode that feels fresh. I’d love to hear a female voice with a bit more humor and energy as well as more industry guests to discuss word building, game mechanics, and the nuances of their topics that they go back and forth on. Hearing them talk for 40 min on a subject is great but it would be more powerful to bring a guest for the back half of an episode to give them validation.
Likeable podcast with good tips
I really like this podcast! It feels very friendly and real and not staged - just two friends talking about ways to kick your table’s role play to the next level. While the information is not presented in a very dense way, I enjoy casually listening to Chris and Mat while I’m doing other things. Their voices are pleasant and they are personable hosts.
They do mention one particular role play construct, the “Pufferfish moment”, a lot, but since it’s something that’s so helpful to table role play (and it’s a fun name) I forgive them.
