British Podcast Awards 2020 'Best Fiction' Nominee. Season One - Summer, 1989. Mockery Manor's new staff have moved into the on-site lake house, ready for the re-opening of Britain's most eccentric theme park. It's a teen dream of a job (as long as you've never seen Friday the 13th), and eighteen year old twins JJ and Bette are determined to leave a difficult year behind them and have a summer straight from the movies... if they don't kill each other first. But something's happening at the park. People keep going missing, and JJ has a horrible feeling the screams she heard in the scare maze were more than just a frightened guest. And why is feline park mascot Mr Crackles stained with blood? Season Two - Three years have passed since the grisly events of Season One, and Mockery Manor’s new assistant manager Parker receives an unexpected phone call from Tokyo. JJ has fallen in with a bad crowd and needs help. What better place for her to lay low than Mockery Manor’s sister park, Dunkelschloss - a magical land of fairy tales in the heart of the Black Forest. But as JJ knows, the past never stays buried, and it’s only a matter of time before she has to face her demons. Mockery Manor is a full-cast production best enjoyed using headphones.

    S2 E6 - Synthetic Banana

Previously: JJ went to the Cuckoo Hotel to ask Bette why she'd asked her to spy on Hilda. Elsewhere, at the high security prison, Parker asks Matty to tell him everything he knows about the man called 'Smithy' who Jenkins offed many years ago. Matty refuses until Parker comes back with info on where Jenkins hid the body. In Amsterdam, gangster Bohdanko questions Dodgy Eric about JJ's whereabouts.
In Germany, Hilda makes phonecalls to bring the mysterious Wizzzard 'Committee' together, so they can decide what to do about Jenkins.
In this episode: Bette spills her secret, Parker confronts Jenkins, and Davina and Margot have a secret meeting.

    S2 E5 - Find The Fun

    S2 E5 - Find The Fun

Hilda meets with Thomasz on the Little Mermaid Seafoam Rapids and instructs him to get closer to JJ – seduce her if he must. Hilda believes Jenkins sent JJ to Dunkelschloss for a reason, and she wants to know what it is. Elsewhere, JJ is approached by a strange woman – it's Bette, in disguise. Bette gives JJ a letter from Mockery, a spy camera and a listening device, and leaves as quickly as she came. Back in England, Parker is clearly traumatised from the events of three years ago. Kelly tells him he needs 'closure'. Parker is inspired and resolves to talk to someone who can give him answers. JJ reads the letter. It's from Jenkins, who tells her to bug Hilda's phone and take photos of the contents of Dunkelschloss's lorries. Thomasz arrives and JJ asks him to drive her to the village. Elsewhere, Danil and Bohdanko have heard something interesting on the criminal grapevine – a man called Dodgy Eric has been making indiscreet enquiries while trying to sell a Vermeer. Bohdanko is dispatched to Amsterdam to have a word with him. In the final scene, Parker is led into a prison room and comes face-to-face with... Matty.
In this episode - JJ demands answers from Bette, Gretchen steps up her investigation, and Parker faces his past demons.

    S2 E4 - Casual Spycraft

    S2 E4 - Casual Spycraft

Previously: JJ takes the scenic route to Hilda's office by riding The Elves of Europe and jumping off the boat at the Italy show scene. Using Hilda's phone, JJ contacts Dodgy Eric (her old flame, and generally an unsavoury character), and asks for his help selling her mysterious package - a stolen Vermeer painting - which he agrees to do. She is then escorted by Tomasz to her lodgings in the semi-derelict schloss at the centre of the park, which has no toilets. Meanwhile, Bette unexpectedly arrives at Mockery Manor and tells Margot, Jenkins and Parker that she has had a baby and needs a job. Jenkins presses her into spying on Hilda and the Dunkelschloss operations. Later that evening, JJ meets Gretchen sneaking around the park. They part ways at the toilets in Baba Yaga Land, but Gretchen tells JJ to be careful... She thinks there is something going on in the park. Something dangerous. JJ laughs and says "that's statistically unlikely".
In this episode: Tomasz reports to Hilda, the twins are reunited in the Black Forest, and Parker starts an investigation of his own.
Mockery Manor is written and directed by Lindsay Sharman. Music, sound design and editing by Laurence Owen.
Hayley Evenett was JJ and Bette, Laurence Owen was Parker, Jenkins, Matty, Bodankho and additional voices, Lindsay Sharman was Hilda, Margot and The Little Mermaid, Alasdair Beckett-King was Tomasz and Danil, and Sooz Kempner was Kelly and the Prison Doctor. Further additional voices by Abbie Eastwood.

    S2 E3 - Whispering Trees

    S2 E3 - Whispering Trees

Previously - Flashing back to New Year's Eve 1990, a disillusioned Bette leaves her pilled-up sister partying with strangers on a Thailand beach, and finds herself spilling her emotions to Chet, an American traveller. Chet invites Bette to come with him to the Himalayas to find inner peace, which she does... without JJ. Flashing forward to the present (1992), Hilda teaches JJ to drive the People Cart in the Vegetable Patch, Dunkelschloss's dullest edu-tainment offering. JJ panics at the mention of a ride called the Trousers Meowsers Mega Coaster, and Hilda informs her that they sometimes swap attractions with Mockery Manor. She also reveals that JJ will be staying in the semi-derelict schloss (castle) during her stay. Meanwhile, at Mockery Manor, Jenkins presses Parker to contact JJ and task her with spying on Hilda, whom he suspects is running an "illegal operation" from the German park. To their surprise, Bette then arrives at Mockery Manor and asks whether Margot's offer of a full-time job still stands. Finally, back in Tokyo, shadowy figures are disposing of a body. It seems unlikely that "the girl" is their colleague's killer, but they are determined to find her and retrieve the item she was supposed to deliver - a priceless, stolen Vermeer. In this episode: a desperate Bette is given a mission, while JJ seeks help from an unsavoury contact, settles into her new lodgings, and makes an unlikely friend. Mockery Manor is written and directed by Lindsay Sharman. Music, sound design and editing by Laurence Owen. Hayley Evenett was JJ and Bette, Laurence Owen was Parker, Jenkins and additional voices, Lindsay Sharman was Hilda, Margot and Davina, Alasdair Beckett-King was Tomasz and Dodgy Eric, and Abbie Eastwood was Gretchen. Previously: Three years have passed since the grisly events of Season One, and Mockery Manor’s new assistant manager Parker receives an unexpected phone call from Tokyo. JJ has fallen in with a bad crowd and needs help fleeing Japan. Parker arranges for JJ to travel to Germany and begin working at Dunkelschloss, Mockery Manor's sister park in the Black Forest. At the German park, employee Gretchen tries to remain professional while greeting guests, but her colleague Tomasz (dressed as mascot Eurobear) is behaving suspiciously, ultimately sneaking off to meet with a mysterious stranger. Meanwhile, Dunkelschloss's manager Hilda telephones Jenkins, and both are convinced the other is responsible for the disappearance of a large amount of theme park equipment on its way to Mockery Manor. Finally, a hitchhiking JJ is dumped by a lorry driver in the forest near Dunkelschloss. In a hollow tree, she hides something she cannot take with her, but cannot afford to lose. In this episode: JJ begins her shift at Jack's Giant Land, Jenkins gives Parker a difficult mission, and... Bette. Where has she been for the last three years?
