121 | My Story of Courage: How I Became a Life Coach

121 | My Story of Courage: How I Became a Life Coach

In the final episode of our Courageous Conversation series (and for the summer), I am sharing my personal story of courage with you. It’s the story of little Shirin, what I believed growing up, the “plan” I had in place, how I went from singing at The Metropolitan Opera House to becoming a life coach, and what choices, changes, and decisions led to the shift that created my dream life.
This is the final podcast episode for the summer as I take a break to honor my rest, joy, and ease. In the meantime, I have a few steps for you to take:
Rate & review the podcast wherever you listen! Seriously, stop right now & take a quick moment to share your thoughts if you love the show. Get ready, get excited, and join the waitlists for the launches of 2 of my signature programs in the fall: Wholehearted Woman (the only way to work with me one-on-one and it’s limited to just 10 spots!) and The Alchemy Collective (my 12-month group coaching program to heal yourself and become your own leader again).  If you haven't already, tune into episodes 116 to 120 to hear all of the Courageous Conversation interviews about amazing, successful women who moved through fear, trusted their intuition, and how they shifted from their life's plan to their dream life.  *Also, this may be the last time I offer Wholehearted Woman before sharing some new, exciting changes for Wholehearted Coaching.

120 | Letting your Dreams Lead the Way with Layla Saad

120 | Letting your Dreams Lead the Way with Layla Saad

There are hundreds of dreams within each of us to explore. We can also get locked into a dream just because it’s doing well or because we’re so good at it.
But, love, dreams evolve just as you do and you can also grow out of dreams. It doesn’t mean the dream was wrong, that it was a waste of time, or that you’re wishy-washy. It just means it’s time to release it and allow another dream to take root and grow.
If you’ve ever wondered how to find what you’re really meant to do in life while also feeling a bit “flaky” for chasing different dreams, this episode with Layla Saad is meant for you, love.
    About Layla Saad
Layla Saad is the founder and CEO of Become A Good Ancestor, a learning destination that empowers us with the tools and resources we need to heal ourselves, our relationships, and the world—from personal and systemic oppression. Layla is a New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author, anti-racism educator, international speaker, and podcast host of Become a Good Ancestor on the topics of race, identity, leadership, personal transformation, and social change.
Layla Saad is an East African, Arab, British, Black, Muslim woman who was born and grew up in the UK, and lives in Qatar. She has always sat at a unique intersection of identities from which she is able to draw rich and intriguing perspectives. She is the author of the ground-breaking Me and White Supremacy (2020), an anti-racism education workbook that has been translated into six languages. Her work is driven by her powerful desire to become a good ancestor; to live and work in ways that leave a legacy of healing and liberation for those who will come after she is gone.

119 | Trusting your Timeline with April Kayganich

119 | Trusting your Timeline with April Kayganich

Often with our dreams, our timelines can keep getting pushed back. When the things we really want get delayed, it may feel harder to keep your eyes on your dream. That’s what’s so powerful about April Kayganich’s story: she always knew there would be pivots and shifts in the journey, but that she would one day reach her dream. Her story is one of patience and resilience and doing the damn thing in a way that feels best for you.
Born in LA, but raised in a suburb of Detroit, April knew from a young age that she was very passionate about hair and art. There weren't many people that had hair like hers, so at the age of 10, she started cutting her own hair. It wasn’t long until her friends were asking her to cut and color their hair, as well. April Kayganich has since made a name for herself in Austin, Texas as a Texture Specialist who truly believes when you accept and embrace your natural hair, you accept and embrace yourself.

118 | Shifting from "The Plan" to "The Dream" with Chrissy King

118 | Shifting from "The Plan" to "The Dream" with Chrissy King

We aren’t born with courage and bravery. We cultivate them. By making one big bold difficult decision after another. When we embark on “the plan” we’ve created for our lives, it can seem so difficult to choose to let it all go and take another path. But, when it’s the path of your dream that’s been calling to you, choosing the difficult thing can actually lead you to all that you truly desire and more.
In this week’s Courageous Conversation, I’m interviewing my bestie - Chrissy King - who fully embodies what it means to stop shrinking yourself and to start taking up space. Before graduating college, Chrissy had a full-time job offer and was engaged to be married. She was basically “set for life.” But, she eventually realized that “the plan” she’d so proudly achieved was no longer the dream she had for her life.
Chrissy King is a writer, speaker, strength coach, educator, and Creator of The Body Liberation Project™ with a passion for creating a diverse and inclusive wellness industry.  She empowers individuals to stop shrinking, start taking up space, and use their energy to create their specific magic in the world. Chrissy merges her passion for Social Justice and her passion for fitness to empower individuals within the fitness and wellness industry to create spaces that allow individuals from all backgrounds to feel seen, welcome, respected, and celebrated. She empowers individuals to stop shrinking, start taking up space, and use their energy to create their specific magic in the world.
When she’s not serving her clients by empowering them to create stress-free and sustainable lifestyles and feel confident and empowered in their skin, she spends her time lifting all the weights, reading, traveling, and hanging with friends and family.

116 | Knowing when to let go with Cyndie Spiegel

116 | Knowing when to let go with Cyndie Spiegel

How do you know when something isn’t for you anymore? What do you do when it’s time to move on from the career, the dream, or the passion you always wanted? In this episode, I’m interviewing (yes, interviewing!) one of my favorite human beings - Cyndie Spiegel – who truly embodies what trusting your intuition and following your compass looks like when it’s time to shift and pivot in life.
Cyndie is a born storyteller and former fashion industry exec turned writer. She’s an aspirational voice and igniter of powerful conversations. Cyndie declared she’d never have a job ever again and instead would live her life getting paid for what she loves. You can find her spreading hard earned truth and wisdom while also showing up as an inspiring and provocative keynote speaker  and founder of Dear Grown Ass Women, a diverse and highly relatable social community for women 35 and older (that you should absolutely join!).

Life-changing

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this podcast. Changing my morning routine to listen to this as opposed to just true crime every morning, has really helped me to shift my mindset. Shirin is amazing. Her energy can be felt through her words and her voice. I am so grateful for this podcast and all of the resources that she provides, and I am especially grateful for her Candor and how real she keeps it all the time.
