Welcome to Embers and Wind!
Guest Lisa David Olson talks about her book “It’s called Laughs on Wry, and it’s an improvisor’s memoir finding humor through childhood abuse, failed marriages and other hurdles. And the tagline that I have on there that really defines my life is ‘a life made of choices instead of excuses’. I grew up in a traumatic childhood setting where my mother was a functioning alcoholic who would have fits of rage. And I know now as an adult that she was self-medicating herself. And I wouldn’t have known that then as a kid.” Lisa then shares “My book talks about the severity of the horrid parts of my life. It also talks about the joy that my mother brought me. It was a hell of a roller coaster ride. She’s the one that made me believe I could sing and that I could act and that I was funny. You know, it was the weirdest up and down.”
