Welcome back to On The Outside! We're returnig with an in-depth chat about all things Kinder Scout Trespass. Last month was the 90th anniversary of a mass trespass across Kinder Scout in the Peak District, a moment that is credited with helping to create our National Parks, and rights of way access in the UK.
 
Francesca is joined by Frit Tam, Ani Patas and Vedangi Kulkarni to talk about who took part in the original Kinder Scout Trespass, and why is happened. Plus, what happened at the commemorative Kinder In Colour event this year, our thoughts on events with large numbers of people in the countryside, and what do we mean by "decolonise the countryside"?

Ani Patas is an outdoor enthusiast who is chronically ill and disabled. She is also the founder of the blog Outside Our Way, hosted by All the Elements. @ani_went_outside
 
Frit Tam is an adventure film maker. He runs a film studio called Passion Fruit Pictures, whose sole mission is to add colour and diversity to the outdoors and adventure industry through filmmaking. @frit_tam
 
Vedangi Kulkarni is an adventure traveller, endurance athlete, writer and expedition manager. I run a business called the Adventure Shared through which I helped plan and manage expeditions and adventures. @wheelsandwords

In this outdoor news round-up, Francesca Turauskis takes us through some news stories from the outdoors world:
- This month is Ramadan, and several athletes and grassroots organisations have been calling on events to be more inclusive of Muslims who observe the holy month.
- The main sponsor of a major women’s cycling race, the Women’s CiCLE Classic, has withdrawn his funding in reaction to British Cycling’s new rules on transgender participation
- In Ireland, the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan has announced a ban on the small-scale commercial selling of turf from September 1st, 2022. It comes as part of the ban on carbon-high fuels.
- The Sporting Pride Conference is taking place in Birmingham on 23rd April
- Right to Roam announce the Kinder in Colour event for the anniversary of the Kinder Tresspass
- Friends of the Earth have announced a grant to support local nature projects
- April 30th is Local Bike Shop Day.

This is a special episode looking at one particular news item. The 26th of March is Purple Day, the International Day of Epilepsy Awareness. It's the one day a year dedicated to raising money and awareness to support everyone who is living with the effects of epilepsy. Right now, people around the globe are cycling, walking, swimming, running and more to raise money to support people living with epilepsy. And if you are one of them, thank you so much.
But one of my biggest passions is advocating for the fact that - people with epilepsy can do these things too. Today's episode is a crossover with another podcast in the Tremula Network. THIIIRD Waves is one of the outputs of THIIIRD magazine, a platform that amplifies marginalised voices through print, events, and on the airwaves with their podcast. Then Daniella speaks to Tom Selwyn who is professorial research associate at the department of anthropology and sociology at the London Middle East Institute. He is widely published in the field of anthropology of tourism and pilgrimage. He also founded the MA in The Anthropolgy of Tourism, Travel and Pilgrimage at SOAS in 2010.
