Canning Gass was a mistake
I haven’t listened to any episodes since David’s last, and I’m not sure if I will going forward.
As a longtime MLS fan, 2024 has been by far the league’s least compelling for me. While I understand bringing Messi in at whatever cost, the flagrant disregard for their own self-imposed arcane rules—when it suits Don Garber’s whims—combined with a general move towards shinier, shallower coverage, just really doesn’t do it for me. I don’t like the term ‘bush league,’ but there’s a strong ‘kid wearing his dad’s pants and trying to pass as an adult’ vibe to everything MLS right now.
David Gass was the realest dude left in the league office, and it’s pretty clear from his firing that MLS doesn’t want fans like me anymore.
Two stars—one apiece for Doyle and Weibe. Enjoy em, boys.
