This course will concentrate on major figures and persistent themes in ancient and medieval philosophy. A balance will be sought between scope and depth, the latter ensured by a close reading of selected texts from Plato, Aristotle, Lucretius, Marcus Aurelius, Augustine, and Thomas Aquinas.

More information? Initial lectures?
I began looking at the first lecture, and it was clear that there were preceding lectures not included here. Presumably these are include the name of the professor (David O'Connor) offering the course. Please click on the link on the left side, "View this course on NDOpenCourseWare" to get full information and the schedule of readings to correspond to the lectures (pretty obvious from the lecture titles).
retired
I am 75 years old, studied Philosophy as a student, loved it and thought I knew a lot about it. This course, that I stumbled onto accidentally while trying out ITunes, promises so much that I never knew, much less understood, that I could not pull myself away from this first lecture. I'm looking forward to continuing the course with relish. Thanks!
Discourse on the soul
I really like the direction this class is headed!
