Why do people keep resisting new things? That’s the question Pessimists Archive tries to answer. In each episode, we travel back in time to the moment that a new technology or innovation was introduced—something that today we think of as totally commonplace!—and we explore why everyone was freaking out about it. Our hope is this: By seeing how repetitive and often silly yesterday's fears were, we can begin to defang today’s fears as well.

Great history podcast

This podcast explores humanities habitual fears of new technologies. By looking towards the past, this show puts our modern fears in context.

New find - love it!

This is a new find for me, but I am loving all the stories behind the inventions and objects. Just the kind of thing I like, relating the past to the present day and making you think more critically about current reactions to new things!

Please stop yelling.

I can’t enjoy this podcast because of the audio quality. Interesting topics and seemingly well researched but I will not listen to a podcast where I have to constantly adjust my volume. The host had a similar style to Malcom Gladwell (who I love!!) but take note from Revisionist History - you can have passion and balanced sound levels.
