Hi, I’m Thoraya. You may know me from YouTube or social media where I interact with and share stories of strangers. 95% of my daily interactions begin with an introduction, so if you don’t know me, bear with me while I piece together yet another one. I spend my life meeting strangers and engaging them in intimate conversations with me, and sometimes even with one another. In this new podcast, I share these strangers with you, an audience of other strangers, in hopes that one day we won’t feel so “strange” to one another anymore. So, nice to meet you. I’m Thoraya and welcome to “Hey, Stranger!"

One stranger I still remember
Hi! I have been following Thoraya’s channel for more 3 years and It’s one of my favorite channels to watch because I always feel like it was time well spent.
So my stranger story is: I left in the middle of a class to meet my mom at the vet. My cat was dying and she was in pain, and I had to go really fast if I wanted to say goodbye. So I was driving really fast and crying really bad. But I stopped in a traffic light for maybe 1 min, and a man in a car next to me gave me the kindest smile. I was too embarrassed that he saw me cry so I looked away without acknowledging his kindness. It sounds like such a small thing but his smile to this day makes me smile. It was a such an empathetic facial expression that It spoke to me. He told me that I would be okay.

Hey, stranger!
On vacation I met a family on the beach when my youngest kid was still a baby.
They were tourists from Germany visiting my country, Portugal.
They were beautiful, the couple and the two children, like an ad out of a magazine.
We talked a bit and then the woman offered to hold my little baby girl so I could go for a swim. That was so mom to mom, it touched me.
But the part I guess I’ll never forget was when we parted and, smiling, she hugged me... and said “Have a beautiful life”.
Episode one answer
One time I was waiting at the bus station for my mom and a stranger approached me ... he didn’t said a word , he looked at me with a fear expression on his face and he ran away from me ... I never felt so hideous in my life
