Welcome to unfiltered where I discuss the history of how social issues came to place their impact on society today and what potential solutions we could come up with as a group to solve them. I have these discussions with my friends too. I started this podcast because the issues that I saw were not being talked about, people were not aware of them, and they did not have the platform to be able to discuss it. This platform is to discuss these issues in an unfiltered and open environment with everyone.

    Episode 1 (Nigeria)

    Episode 1 (Nigeria)

With the situation occurring in Nigeria it is time for the leaders to make a long-overdue change. Throughout history, Nigeria has suffered through the hands of colonialism from foreign countries and later gaining its independence. However, this independence has proven to be a bittersweet one. For 60 years of freedom what improvements or changes have been impactful for the people. The Nigerian people have gone through suffering from its leaders who illustrate their greediness and selfishness to the public with no consequences. There is a great divide between the rich and poor to where it seems that the middle-class group barely exists. People have a hard time feeding their families and paying for their children's education hoping for a brighter and better future. Nigerian youths are preached education yet not many can find jobs after post-graduation. The issue of military and police intimidation of the people strongly shows high signs of an authoritarian government ruled by the military and rich. The situation that is recently occurring with the SARS (Special Anti-Robbert Squad) a Nigerian police force in which its people had enough of their horrible and unfair treatment to the citizens. The people took to protest the unfair treatment from SARS by peacefully protesting for the change of the police brutality its people face every day. The government answered the people by stating that they had gotten rid of the SARS and replaced it with a new police force (SWATS). The people declined this change as they know very well from the government that the only thing that was changed was the name, not the police force itself. They continued to protest for change and were met with violent treatment from its government. The government sent both police and military with guns, knowing the people had little to nothing to defend themselves with to fully harm and kill the protesters. People have lost their lives and are continuing to lose their lives while the government makes empty promises and stand by what is occurring. The political history of Nigeria is not a good history and the people have had enough of the unfair treatment from it. From bribery to murder and cruel treatments from its government the youths have taken the stand up against the government to better treat the people and make the necessary change. This starts with the protest against the unfair treatment of SARS towards the people. Action needs to be taken the leaders need to open their ears and make changes. The people have had enough of the unfair treatment from their leaders.
