They Live
Sometimes being overshadowed by his other cult classics of The Thing and Halloween, both of which being previous topics on this very podcast, this John Carpenter directed film boasts an anti-capitalism theme that becomes more and more relevant with time. Placing a wrestling superstar in the starring role before popularized by the likes of The Rock and John Cena, this comedic thriller of a David vs a Goliath is deserving of the status of badass. So chew that bubble gum and get ready to kick ass as we discuss… They Live

Footloose
W/ Special Guest Austin Olivia Kendrick (@aok.wav)
Let’s Dance. This month’s film is part of the already well documented gap in knowledge of this here podcaster better know as the 80s pop culture classic. Filled with the teen angst, the story of rebellion, just the right amount of cheesiness and of course a rocking soundtrack with a vibe that as we discuss in this episode needs to be recreated more frequently in today’s cinema. So let’s hear it for the boys and listen as we discuss … 1984’s Footloose

Motherless Brooklyn
*Please forgive the audio. I am still out of practice when it comes to doing in person episodes. But I really do hope you barrel through the episode because I really loved connecting and talking with my sister about a movie she loves. Which is rare. If you cannot stand the audio there are more episodes with audio not as bad please give them a listen if you have not yet. Have a Happy New Year*
The story of noir has become a time honored tradition in cinema known for its tales of grittiness and begrudging tough as nails male protagonists. This month's film brilliantly takes this movie motif and makes it its own by creating a very human story of injustice, still having a detective but with problems different than those in other movies of the genre, and telling a story of a more deeper love that involves a different type of femme fatal and most importantly there is jazz. So grab your fedoras and coats and get ready as we discuss... Motherless Brooklyn.
