Screenwriter Pierce Ryan on Black 47
Pierce Ryan is the screenwriter of Black 47 and Standby as well as numerous shorts. In 2018 he took part in the Screen Skills Ireland LA Writers Room Placements. We sat down to chat to Pierce about getting into screenwriting, the phenomenon that was Black 47 and his experience of writers rooms in LA.

LA Writers Room
Earlier this year Screen Skills Ireland chose three writers for the LA Writers’ Room placements. The aim of the placements is to provide Irish writers with an opportunity to experience a U.S. TV Writers’ Room.
So on today's episode we speak to the person behind the initiative - directer Des Doyle as well as the three writers who took part to hear they're experience of the trip. They are writer and director Nick Kelly (Shoe, The Drummer And The Keeper), writer and director for TV and film, Dathaí Keane (An Klondike, Finky)and writer / directer Mary McGuckian, who has worked extensively in independent film (The Price of Desire, The Girl from Mogadishu).
