Episode 34 - The Atrocity of Neoliberalism in JG Ballard. W/ Labor Kyle The Left Page & Here Be Media

    • Society & Culture

Hello everyone! I am back, this time, with a particularly intense and chaotic book, which you can hopefully also judge whether you want to read it or not, it's JG Ballard's 1970 (Collection of essays? Stories? Novel?) The Atrocity Exhibition! A particularly scathing approach to contemporary American and, in general, neoliberal culture and the machinations of capital. In the episode with Kyle we go from the particularities of punk and technology, through the power of literature and connecting these cultural criticisms to a larger action in the world, to how we Historians behave and feel about it, and some of the most vile behaviours of capital in the present day via the worship of Reagan and the evil Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. There's a lot to it! No wonder we accidentally chatted for nearly 2 hours! Have fun!
