- Society & Culture
Snigdha Nandipati has a bachelor in science (neuroscience) from Yale, she's a patient advocate, and author of "A case of culture" which explores how patients from different cultures navigate the challenges of Western medicine with the help of cultural brokers. Snigdha shares stories on the value of having medical professionals understanding and being open to different cultures and belief systems, the challenges of working with these different perspectives, and why trust is one the biggest barriers for people from different cultures seeking western medicine. We explore the bridge between modern science and traditional healing practices and how we can use both. She opens up the possibility of having gold standard research in traditional methods and the benefits of having cultural brokers in the medical field.
