Tonje Kvivik is one part of the three person crew of fun loving, hard charging skiers, The Blondes.   Earlier this year The Blondes released their film, "How Did We Get Here?" , which answers that exact question, sharing a quick look into the histories of the three athletes and friends. 
This week we dive deep. Tonje grew up in Norway before making her way to Revelstoke where she met Janelle Yip and Emily Childs.  She tells us her version of the origin story of the Blondes from Revy to Whistler, filming for TGR and MSP,  their all for one attitude.   
Tonje also spent those years simultaneously studying for her bachelors and masters degrees,  she suffered an injury early this season that she has, until now, kept quiet and she talks about her move to Arc'teryx and much much more.

Marielle Thompson is the 2024 Ski Cross, Crystal Globe winner.  It's actually her fouth overall title which she can now place on the mantle alongside her gold and silver Olympic medals. 
We talk about the evolution of Ski Cross as a sport and why Team Canada has been so dominant over the years.  She also shares how she manages the extensive travel spending weeks on the road at a time.  I ask her if she ever gets to ski any pow in between events and we talk also talk about our dogs and how she is also an excellent softball player.

Ming Poon is a very accomplished photographer and environmental advocate based in the outdoor Mecca of Lake Tahoe. His path up to this point took a very unexpected detour when he was thrust into the world of big business and a move to China after the death of his father.
 
We talk about Ming's constant evolution from aspiring guide to expat executive to photographer, environmentalist and then father and how he takes each new challenge and incorporates it into his very rich life.

Josh Daiek returns to the LPP!  This time we spoke in his kitchen in South Lake Tahoe on one of his rare off days.   Josh is a true workhorse with an energy dedicated to the projects he creates that is hard to rival.  One such project is the third installment to his "Mountain State" film project which highlights the lesser traveled mountain ranges in Nevada that host the epic lines he has become known for.
The two of us also talk about skiing with dogs, training and safety in the mountains, the benefits of having no expectations and the difficulty balancing between work and play when you do what you love for a job.

This fifth, and final, event of the season was the cherry on top of an amazing, record breaking cycle of the Freeride World Tour. This comp had drama. It had suspense.
