How can we honour our parents especially when we disagree with them? In this episode, Simon, Tarryn and Jacob continue their conversation on how to apply the gospel specifically in our families, particularly in challenging relationships with our parents. They discuss how we honour our parents in a way that pleases God and not men, and how we can engage our parents in a way that embodies Christ by thinking about our heart motivations and looking to Jesus as the perfect son to his Father.

Simon interviews his wife, Tarryn, and Jacob Ng, Assistant Lead Pastor at RHC, on how to navigate difficult family situations with the help of the gospel. In the first of a two-part series, Jacob and Tarryn share their observations from counselling people through their challenges, and how people can start to think biblically about familial relationships by looking to God’s word.

In this episode, Simon and Edward share their personal experiences of how their natural families have influenced them in their faith and in their interactions with their children. They also discuss what it means to live out the gospel in our natural families, and how our spiritual family can help us to do that.

Simon, Purch, and Ed continue their conversation on church planting in Singapore by exploring what God' says about church planting in his word. Using the early church in Acts as a starting point, they celebrate the diversity of communities within the local church and discuss what a healthy church plant looks like throughout the different stages.

Simon and Ed explore the losses and gains of how the pandemic has affected the physical gathering of the Church, being part of the bigger body of Christ, and relational capital within the community. They also discuss the idea of what it means to worship through the gathering of God’s people and raise the challenge for believers to consider this question: “How are you loving your neighbor by coming to church and by prioritising physical gathering over livestream at home?”

Simon interviews Edward, who is starting a Chinese church plant soon, and Andrew Purchase, Pastor and Director of City Renewal at Redemption Hill Church, on church planting specifically in Singapore. Together, they discuss how church planting benefits not only the city but also the church that chooses to send their best to plant other churches rooted in the gospel and committed to discipleship. As Christians called to fulfill the great commission to make disciples of all nations, the act of church planting helps to bring this to bear by promoting diversity and inclusivity in the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
