It’s an election year, and candidates Ronald Crump and Ernie Blanders are dominating the headlines. Eleven-year-old Bennet Sable’s never been into politics, or school for that matter; it’s all hockey all of the time. But when his grandmother gets kicked out of her retirement home under suspicious circumstances and moves in with the family, everything starts to change.
One day in school the teacher surprises everyone with a pop quiz. If you were 18, who would you vote for for president? Not having paid attention in class, Bennet sarcastically answers that he’d vote for his grandma. But when his failed quiz ends up front page center in the local newspaper the next morning, it sets in motion a series of events that unexpectedly has Grandma disrupting the 2020 presidential elections. Along the way, Bennet becomes seriously interested in politics and democracy, and the power one person has to make a difference.
