Episode 1
In Denver, in 2015, Olga Martin's daughter Zoie is found dead in an alley. The police believe Zoie died of a drug overdose, but Olga finds the circumstances of Zoie's death suspicious, and launches her own investigation. Zoie, from beyond the grave, narrates the investigation and shows the audience her complicated relationship with her mother and drugs, and the increasing trouble drugs bring into her life.

In the past, Zoie finds love in rehab. In the present, Olga pressures detective Liz Andrews about the case. Unsatisfied with the police's efforts, Olga continues her personal investigation, knocking on doors and making calls... until someone calls back.
