Pullin from the Stacks - Episode 167 - Free Palestine!
Special FreePalestine! episode dedicated to all the Palestinians under siege and fighting to hold onto their homes and their loved ones while the Israeli state continues to massacre people and steal Palestinian land, as they have for many decades. I urge everyone who isn't already supporting the Boycott Divest Sanctions movement to read up on it - you can do so here bdsmovement.net/ - and support the boycott of the apartheid Israeli state. I have also included two short interview excerpts on this mix from the 1970s record "Palestine Lives!" for some historical context. On my Soundcloud I have posted a number of places to donate and support. This episode is also dedicated to my partner and her family, as well as all my friends and colleagues breaking their fast over this next 24 hours. Eid Mubarak! These selections celebrate Muslim musicians, including Ahmadi Muslims. Tracklist: Interview, La Troupe Palestinienne de Deir Yassin, Jaubi, Yusef Lateef, Sulieman Saud (McCoy Tyner), La Troupe Palestinienne de Deir Yassin, Interview, Abdullah Ibrahim
Pullin from the Stacks - Episode 166 - More Cal Tjader
I noticed that the great Cal Tjader passed away around 40 years ago today (May 5th), and while I typically don't like doing death anniversaries, it did feel like a good time to revisit some of his records. The feeling of his music can't be understated - it just feels GOOD. Especially right now as spring moves toward summer, it seems perfect to break these albums out. This episode is also a bit of a sequel to an earlier Tjader mix on episode 24 of PFTS - I made sure to play a different selection of tracks, so go back and check that one too if you haven't already! Hope you enjoy.
Jazz 45s Mix for International Jazz Day
Since it's both International Jazz Day and 45Friday I figured I'd throw a mix of some jazz 45s together. This is completely rough and raw, I just grabbed a stack of 45s and did this in one take, just what felt good. Hope you enjoy!

Pullin from the Stacks - Episode 163
After I finished recording this episode, I realized I'd played two records featuring Jorge Santana - one by his group Malo, and another with him as a guest with the Fania All-Stars. I looked him up and realized he had sadly passed away last spring. Rest in Power Jorge Santana! I hope everyone enjoys his guitar work on these tunes as well as the other tracks featured here. Tracklist: JAB, Malo, Reuben Wilson, Rimshots, Fania All-Stars
