The Eye Kestrel and the Fox

Dani’s interest and enthusiasm for the project has dramatically waned. A phone call in the middle of the night reveals that Clay is in the car on his way to Carol. Betrayal, terror and truth unravel in a durational phone call as Clay enters the eye of the storm.

Reinvigorated by a mysterious recording, Dani and Clay visit a community of younger people living on the outskirts of Carol. They realize that “cult” might be a better term for this eccentric group, and indulging in their strange customs helps to unearth some hidden truths.

Dani and Clay follow a tip that takes them to Carol’s only elderly care facility. In a town with so much demand, the facility is clearly overwhelmed. Soon, it becomes apparent that the strange moth migration is not Carol’s most pressing issue. After a trying and disturbing visit, Dani questions whether they should continue their investigation at all.

Student reporters Danielle Curtis and Clay Daniels follow a record-breaking moth storm to the dusty small town of Carol, California. In order to learn more, they seek out one of the country’s best entomologists who is equally fascinated with the phenomenon, but end up learning less about insects, and more about the curious and troubling inhabitants of the small town.
