Watch/Skip+ is a movie review podcast with a pop-cultured, lifestyle twist. Join "Emcee" (Alex) and "Cupcake" (Jose) as they apply their film critic skills to a current theatrical or streaming movie with thoughts on everything the movie brings (cast, cinematography, story...all the feels!), deciding if it's worth a watch or skip. The "+" of the title refers to Alex and Jose each week choosing a "Plus", a bonus lifestyle review on any topic - A news item, entertainment gossip, a streaming or network show, a product they tried, another film they watched...anything is up for grabs.

Episode 78: Luca Guadagnino's Challengers
Tie Point! New Episode served!
The Boys serve up a review of “Challengers”, the new film from famed ALGERIAN director Luca Guadagnino, and lob some deep, right-on-the-line analysis and film discussion. The director of “Bones and All” serves up different kinds of bones in the tennis-threesome erotic drama, and Emcee and Cupcake find themselves volleying back and forth over the film’s performances, the time jumps, the camera work, and all the sexy sexy. Is Challengers a film lover’s dream or is it arty, pumped up CW-YA-erotica starring a ubiquitous but albeit gorgeous actress?

Episode 77: Sasquatch Sunset
Grunt and scratch yourself vigorously….a new episode has dawned!
From the second Willden-beast mentioned this film on our Second Annual Sundance episode and especially after the first red band trailer went wild, the hosts of the show have been anticipating the release of the Zellner brothers’ “Sasquatch Sunset”. (Editor’s note: This is Beanie…according to my hooman only one of you was looking forward to this.) Crude and quite “out there”, it’s a year in the life of a family of Sasquatch (“Bigfoot” if you will) with no dialogue. Arty, indie fare with serious actors ape-ing their hearts out or one note vulgarity deserving of the $2 digital download sale bin? Cobb a “sasquatch” and have a listen.

The Watch/Skip’ers cock their critic guns and suit up for the action vengeance, social commentary-tinged directorial debut of noted, SAG and BAFTA award winning actor Dev Patel. Is it the “audacious” film debut that stunned SXSW audiences or is it a meta-cloned, US-Bollywood inspired- actioner-masquerading-as-a-Bollywood-US inspired-actioner, film directing debut that is beautiful but flat arthouse action?
