In this show, Nurse Mo breaks down a wide range of nursing school concepts so they’re easy to understand. Each episode aims to help nursing students improve their study techniques, pass nursing school exams, and feel more confident in clinical. If you’re nervous about nursing school, not “getting it” in lecture, or feeling overwhelmed with all the information you have to learn, this podcast will help you optimize your study time so you can learn more with less stress.
While nursing school is challenging, it doesn’t have to be impossible. When concepts are explained in a way that “just makes sense”, nursing students have better recall on exams, feel more confident working with patients in clinical, and are better prepared for NCLEX.
Nurse Mo understands the struggles nursing students face and draws on more than 11 years of clinical experience to make nursing school less intimidating. Each episode removes the “fluff” and focuses on the key things a nursing student (and nurse) needs to know about a variety of disease conditions. The show also provides tips for succeeding in nursing school, guidance for students and new nurses, and insider information to help you excel at the bedside.

Fedgash ,

This Nursing Podcast is from Heaven!

I am a nursing professor from Saudi Arabia. I found out about this podcast by chance a few years ago, when I was searching for something related to nursing education. I immediately loved it, and have so far listed to almost all of the episodes, mostly when commuting to work.
I am not the type of person who goes and rate every app and podcast they download, but I am writing this review in appreciation of Nurse Mo's efforts to promote nursing education in the US and globally.

Honestly, I am amazed how the efforts of one single person, who perhaps came into nursing from another non-health-related field, can influence nursing education, encourage and motivate students to learn, and engage learners. Something we (academics) struggle to achieve. She is also not doing this for profit!

I personally have extensive clinical, academic, and research experience in nursing. As I listen to Nurse Mo, I was able to see how a typical nursing work-day in the US may look like, and compare that elsewhere. There are some differences, a lot of similarities, and common challenges.

Nurse Mo carefully selects topics that are very useful for students and junior nurses, I love how she explains the basics by breaking down the content so that it is easier to digest. She even covers the pathophysiological aspects so that students can link assessment, diagnosis, and management.

I also like the management approach she endorsed, because it is guided by patients' needs (patient-centered care), and always tries to teach students how to fix problems before they even happen. She has developed brain maps and note sheets for this purpose. In fact, she came up with an innovative nursing care approach 'LAATE', which I consider an upgrade for the nursing process. Possibly the acronym was derived and influenced by her morning coffee routine!

What I liked most about Nurse Mo is her caring attitude (TLC) towards her patients and students alike! She goes above and beyond to help students overcome nursing school stress, and pave their way to pass the NCLEX exam. She has designated some episodes to guide students on how to prepare for the exam day, how to stay focused, and gives valuable tips and tricks for the exam-takers. She has also some pod-quizzes for revisions of important facts of selected topics, and as complementary episodes. In most of her episodes, Nurse Mo will always review critical points that are most likely will show up in the exam. As an item-writer and a member of the national licensing exam board, I can confidently say that Nurse Mo knows exactly how instructors, professors, and item-writers think when they construct exams. She has revealed most of the secrets surrounding the licensing exams.

Nurse Mo has also a website called 'Straight A Nursing', where you can find Everything for Nursing School Success, and she has authored a "thrive guide" book for nursing students. I particularly like the templates and brain sheets she developed for nurses to stay alert and focused during the shift, and for care planning.

In our nursing school, we are currently developing the curriculum to integrate virtual learning, e-sim, and podcasting into courses' teaching methods. I will recommend Straight A Nursing Podcast to complement the core nursing courses of the undergraduate programs. I also hope we can collaborate with Nurse Mo in virtual teaching classes for our students.

Nurse Mo, You are a true inspiration for Nursing, Keep up the good work. You really deserve to be nominated for one of Sigma's International Awards for Nursing Excellence, or other prestigious awards.

I know you like long reviews, but thought mine was too long! Please accept my apology

sincere regards,
AK
