Brodhead, Wisconsin, is a small, peaceful town in the southern part of the state. It might seem like a town without much going on, but it has plenty of activity—paranormal activity. Some people believe the whole town is haunted.

One of the prominent haunted locations is Brodhead Manor. Brodhead Manor was built as a school, with the first school built on the site in 1896. The 60,000 square foot brick structure on 10th street is home to a haunted, HAUNTED house. On Halloween, visitors come from all over to get scared at the haunted attraction, but the hauntings happen year-round. Many former students, teachers, principals, and even a janitor still roam the halls of their former school.

Cindy Sauer Appeared to be enjoying a good life. She was married to a loving husband and was a mother to three girls. A far cry from the book's title that would depict the following years of her life, The Exorcism of Cindy Sauer. Then, things suddenly took a turn for the worse. In 2009, her husband took his own life very unexpectedly. She was overcome with grief, and as many would, she fell into a depression. It was at this time that unexplained events began occurring around her home. She's very quickly concluded that these may be paranormal, possibly even her deceased husband attempting to leave a message. This assumption quickly changed as things went from paranormal to sinister and possibly demonic.

She suffered horrific nightmares, terrifying images presented night after night depicting unspeakable atrocities. And then the hunting went from an external battle to an internal war that would require an exorcism. The Exorcism of Cindy Sauer did not end in one cleansing. The internal battle would continue for a time to come, and it would never permanently go away. In the 1880s, the Squirrel Cage Jail in Council Bluffs, Iowa, was considered a revolutionary concept in housing inmates.  They claimed the new concept allowed for "maximum security with minimum jailer attention."

It was a "19th-century marvel,” constructed so that only one jailor could watch an entire prison full of prisoners. The cells were all positioned on a central carousel that, when a hand crank was turned, would rotate the cells so that only one could be entered at a time. However, it didn’t take long to realize this concept didn’t work as they thought it would. While the jailer could attend to the one cell – the others were trapped. Of the 18 prisons built, most were closed within a couple of years after opening – however – the Squirrel Cage Jail remained in operation until 1969.

But it seems some of those who were once there are still there. Reports of hauntings date back to the 1950s when a jailor refused to sleep in his quarters because he believed it to be haunted.
