Weightlifting Pet Peeves: Ego Lifting
Today we are back with our THIRD episode in the ongoing series of pet peeves in weightlifting. We obtained this specific annoyance from an Instagram poll where there was a common complaint for ego lifting. Ego lifting includes loading too much on the bar too soon and not taking the time to first progress in technique, constantly missing reps or forcing ugly makes in training, taking percentages off of numbers you’ve never even had on the bar before, and so on. Tune in to hear our own ramblings on the issue and what we feel can be done about it. Enjoy the show!
The Final Phil-in
Today as we’re talking to Phil Andrews for the last time as our CEO. As many of you may already know, Phil will be stepping away and moving on to other ventures. Please join us in saying thank you and good-bye to this individual that has made such a positive impact in so many ways within USA Weightlifting and the Sport of Weightlifting in general through his tenure. Enjoy the show!
Quick Tip: Cheryl's #1 for the Clean
We have yet another Quick Tip for you today, this time for the clean. Whereas with our last quick tip on the snatch we talked about confirming the beginning of the lift; the start position, today for the clean we’re talking about ensuring that you’re getting to the end of the lift from extension most efficiently and effectively; and this is zoning in the pull under portion of the lift. In this episode we discuss how there is a requisite level of mobility to be able to do this optimally, but also how it is all about timing.
Additionally, we reason why we believe you should NOT move your elbows “high and to the outside”, AND why you should STOP worrying about and trying to move your elbows around fast. Enjoy the show!

Quick Tip: Cheryl's #1 for the Snatch
We have another Quick Tip for you today, and with it we are aiming to bring your extreme attention to the start position, as well as the first inch of the lift off of the ground. It is common to see athletes with their hips set too high in the start position, and/or for them to lose the best characteristics as the initiate. Tune in to learn what you should FEEL when you’re in the right position, and how you can work on solidifying through this range. Enjoy the show!
