    Trains Trains Trains

    Trains Trains Trains

This podcast is all about trains. See, trains are a method of transportation. Trains are one of the first methods of transportation involving machines.I hope you enjoy this podcast and thank you for listening if you do.

Here is information that I did and did not include and where I got it:

When Englishman Richard Trevithick launched the first practical steam locomotive in 1804, it averaged less than 10 mph. Today, several high-speed rail lines are regularly traveling 30 times as fast. Source:https: www.history.com

The first electric mine locomotive in the United States went into service in mid 1887 in the Lykens Valley Coal Company mine in Lykens, Pennsylvania. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Mine_railway

Trains have been a popular form of transportation since the 19th century. When the first steam train was built in 1804, people were worried that the speed would make rail passengers unable to breathe or that they would be shaken unconscious by the vibrations. Source: https://www.dkfindout.com

So how long is a train? The main two kinds are freight and passenger.

A freight train length is anywhere between 140 feet and 10,000 feet or 1.9 mile. However there were instances where a freight train has reached over 18,000 feet or 3.4 miles, pulling 295 cars. Source: https://trainconductorhq.com

How long is a passenger train? A passenger train is way shorter than a freight train, ranging between 80 feet and 1000 feet. Source: https://trainconductorhq.com ›

In development since 1962, the SCMAGLEV is a futuristic magnetic levitation system that uses powerful magnetic forces for all aspects of operation—acceleration, deceleration, guidance and levitation—resulting in operating speeds of over 300 miles per hour in everyday service, and travel times unlike anything traditional trains can achieve.
