Nevertheless, she suffered under her mother's abuse, surviving a harrowing murder-suicide attempt that left her with both physical and emotional scars.
Following this traumatic event, La’Erica was placed in foster care and eventually sent to live with her grandmother on her mother's side on the East Coast. Unfortunately, this new environment did not offer the stability and support she needed.
