Jenny Beeken, renowned yoga instructor, joins A Tale of Three Indies to discuss her life practicing yoga and her latest book "The Nature of Breathing". This lovely book is a journey from our most basic necessity of breathing to how breathing with the right kind of awareness can be life changing. Jenny begins the journey with our early ancestors, our roots and along the way explores the anatomy of breathing, yoga postures, and the benign affect the breath has on our whole being. Interspersed with real life experiences we feel intuitively the book comes from a place of experiential understanding and truth.

    Episode 21 Seamus O'Reilly

    Episode 21 Seamus O'Reilly

Séamas O'Reilly's mother died when he was five, leaving him, his ten brothers and sisters and their beloved father in their sprawling bungalow in rural Derry. It was the 1990s; the Troubles were a background rumble (most of the time), and Séamas at that point was more preoccupied with dinosaurs, Star Wars and the actual location of heaven than the political climate. Did Ye Hear Mammy Died? is a book about a family of argumentative, loud, musical, sarcastic, grief-stricken siblings, shepherded into adulthood by a man whose foibles and reticence were matched only by his love for his children and his determination that they would flourish. It is the moving, often amusing and completely unsentimental story of a boy growing up in a family bonded by love, loss and fairly relentless mockery.
In this episode A Tale of Three Indies, three of Ireland's favourite independent bookshops come together to interview Seamus about his book and much more.

    Episode 20 Ardal OHanlon

    Episode 20 Ardal OHanlon

In this episode the Three Indies interview actor, comedian, and writer, Ardal O'Hanlon. Ardal’s new book, Brouhaha is a razor-sharp, violent and darkly comic novel set in the fictional border town of Tullyanna.

Dove Connolly is dead. That's not good for anyone in Tullyanna, never mind Dove. Now his best friend Sharkey is home asking awkward questions about Dove's death, about the strange graphic novel he left behind, and, most of all, about Sandra. Sandra Mohan. Missing now for over a decade, whereabouts unknown. This, however, is a town dead-set on keeping its secrets. And Sharkey is already drawing attention from all the wrong quarters. A mystery, a black comedy, a satire on Ireland's tangled politics of memory, Brouhaha is set in a small town on the Irish border during the uneasy transition to peace. And peace doesn't come easy in these parts.

Brouhaha is available in all good bookshops now, but especially ours – antoniasbookstore.com, maynoothbookshop.com and woodbinebooks.ie
