AFS S8E7 | University of Amsterdam film student Jons Klaessens, joined us on the welcome back edition of the Amsterdam Film Show after a long shot down due to the coronavirus. Again. Jons shared three film picks screening in Amsterdam cinemas during June 2021: Wolfwalkers, Judas and the Black Messiah, and American Utopia. Co-host Cathy also shared a few updates from the Dutch cinema industry and chatted with Jons about the film on the top of her big screen watch list: Nomadland (he's already streamed it). Also screening during this period, the war film, De Slag Om De Schelde (aka The Forgotten Battle), which is a relatively big budget Dutch film you can see locally with English subtitles.

AFS S08E06 | Local podcaster and prolific Letterboxd user, Bill Scurry, joined us on the first Amsterdam Film Show of 2021 with four streaming film picks for our listeners. Co-host Cathy also shared a few insights from the Dutch cinema industry as they look back on a rough year, but they are still investing in new cinemas apparently – including nearby Haarlem.

AFS S08E04 | Now that cinemas have slowly started to open up again, we take a second look at what there is to see. This time usual host Elliot Bloom is missing his normal co-host and is joined by Mike Gomez from NYC and a soon-to-be new regular voice on the show. We discuss David Fincher's new release Mank, the great Polish film Corpus Christi that has had to live in the shadow of Parasite this last year, as well as our picks from alternative streaming services - MUBI & Criterion Collection. AFS S08E03 | With Kiko’s deep perverse love for horror, it wouldn’t be right to not do a Halloween special on the Amsterdam Film Show. It also wouldn’t be right to do the show without an additional diehard fanatic & Amsterdam’s very own expert on horror film Chandler, aka Shockaholic. For this special edition Kiko challenges Chandler & Elliot to confront their fears and watch the scariest films of their childhoods.
