Exodus 20 and the 10 commandments are nearly identical in how they start. We know Jesus our Lord was the same God on MT Sinai as on MT Beatitudes. However, the "thou shalt nots" were to create a knowledge that we, as sinners, could never keep the commandments of God without His help. We needed a fundamental change in us that required a new becoming born again unto God. We became NEW CREATURES IN CHRIST as God put the Holy Spirit within us! In Galatians 1:13, Paul talks about his past life as a Jew and how he used to persecute the Church of God. The people who believed Jesus Christ as the coming Messiah were part of this church. Later, Paul's eyes were opened to the truth about Jesus, and he became a follower. This raises a question: do we truly understand what Christ has done for us, and are we willing to believe that he can forgive our sins?
