Waitress (feat. Jonathan)
I don’t think this diner follows proper health code regulations... This week Raven and Campbell are joined by returning guest and game show host, Jonathan. Together they discuss medical malpractice, bemoan the plight of service workers, and play Cabernet Cabaret while recapping the 2023 stage recording of Waitress.
***Content Warning: brief discussion of scene containing sexual harassment and intimate partner violence. Time: 41:26 - 43:38***
Where to watch: Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Movies & TV
Cobbler Cocktail Recipe:
-1 lb Fresh fruit of choice
-2 oz Fresh lemon juice
-1/3 c Sugar (can be granulated white or brown)
-Spices to taste: cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, cardamom, ginger
-2 oz Brandy
-Graham crackers for rim
Recommended fruits: peach, apple, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, blackberry
In a bowl, toss the fruit in the sugar, lemon juice, and spices. Add a splash of water to a medium skillet. Transfer fruit mixture to skillet and bring to a low boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until fruit is softened and has released its juices (7-10 min). Remove from heat. Using a slotted spoon, remove fruit back to the mixing bowl, leaving the juice in the saucepan.
While juice cools, prepare graham cracker crumb rim on cocktail glass (recommend tumbler or martini). Once juice is warm to lukewarm, add brandy and stir to fully mix. Recommend juice to brandy ratio of 2:1. Add 1-2 spoonfuls of cooked fruit to the bottom of the glass. Strain drink mixture into glass. Enjoy warm and maybe with a side of ice cream!
(Chef’s note: If you’d like to enjoy the drink as a cordial to sip, continue cooking the juice in the saucepan after you remove the fruit for 2-3 minutes until it reduces to a syrupy consistency. This creates a rich liqueur quite reminiscent of a pie filling!)
