Brewing and Distillation- Intro
Hi, I'm Jake and welcome to Brewing and Distilling! In this podcast I will be taking on the massive task of taking an in-depth look at all aspects of brewing and distilling, with the aim of promoting a good general understanding that will apply to both home and professional distilling! The rough plan for this is to cover:
Brewing for Distilling:
- Raw materials and sources
- Processing raw materials for use
- Yeast and Fermentation
Distillation:
- Distillation Theory
- Types of still
- Stripping and Spirit Runs
- Continuous Distillation
Aging and Maturation:
- Blending and Dilution
- Barrel Aging
- Filtration
- Packaging
Each topic will likely last multiple episodes and will dive into the nitty-gritty of things such as what is going on inside a grain of barley as it's malting, how yeast metabolises and grows, and the reactions that take place inside a barrel of rum!
Please let me know what you think, and if there's anything more you'd like me to cover.
