EP05 10 CAREGIVER REASONS FOR UBI

There are many aspects as to why a Universal Basic Income, UBI, would help unpaid family caregivers the best for financial stability. EP04 UBI AND THE ART OF NEGOTIATION

The problem with being precariat when negotiating is that not bringing anything to the table to get favorable terms. The Universal Basic Income gives the power to enforce a "No" which makes a big differnece. It's not just about getting what you need, but also not being subjected to abuse when working for someone, or even helping someone. EP03 THE FOUNDATIONAL WORK

    EP03 THE FOUNDATIONAL WORK

    THE FOUNDATIONAL WORK

Caregiving is the foundational work that supports all other work. Now, more than ever, now that so many are still on lockdown, the home has become where we live, work, get educated, and taken care of. Taking care of ourselves, our family, loved ones, is the default essential healthcare, too. The Universal Basic Income would help so much in making it all work.

This episode’s Noteworthy guest is Mea Dunford, awesome caregiving mom. Mea is a mother of two, with one son on the spectrum. She volunteers to co-host on Humanity Hangs with Humanity Forward Tuesdays and Fridays. She is also a regular speaker on the YangGang Round Table, a UBI advocacy podcast. We met on the Hangouts that happen at Humanity Forward on Tuesdays and Fridays and a link to register for that is tinyurl.com/HumanityHangCalendar. Also, you can listen to Mea and the gang at the Yang Gang Round Table Podcast at http://ygrtpodcast.com/.

    EP02 PRECARIAT CARE

    EP02 PRECARIAT CARE

The Precariat are those who live in precarious circumstance due to poverty or intermittent work situations. Most caregivers are in the precariat position, with care devalued to the point of not being compensated enough or at all. Doing a job 24/7 uncompensated, or compensated non-monetarily makes for extra helpings of stress on top of work that is already stressful.
