    This is a new podcast format presented by Mike Watson of the Acid Left  and artist Bobby Dowler. This edition is on whether Uni for arts and  humanities is worth it both for the student and the tutor.  

    Down and Out in the Art World is about how to survive as a poor artist,  curator or writer in the art world, drawing on the personal experiences  and advice of it's hosts and guests.

    Down and Out in the Art World: A New Podcast on being Working Class in the Cultural Field

    This is a new podcast format presented by Mike Watson of the Acid Left and artist Bobby Dowler.  It's about how to survive as a poor artist, curator or writer in the art world, drawing on the personal experiences and advice of it's hosts and guests.  

    Mike Watson (PhD from Goldsmiths College) is a theorist, critic and curator who is principally focused on the relation between culture, new media and politics. He has written for Art Review, Artforum, Frieze, Hyperallergic and Radical Philosophy and has curated events at the 55th and 56th Venice Biennale, and Manifesta 12. In 2019 he published his second book with Zero Books, Can the Left Learn to Meme?: Adorno, Video Gaming and Stranger Things.   

    Bobby Dowler is UK born artist who has lived and worked in the UK, Greece, Italy, and Paris. He is studying a Masters at St Martins and is represented as an artist by Hannah Barry Gallery. His works have been exhibited at Shoot The Lobster, New York; Bold Tendencies, London; New Art Centre, Roche Court, Wiltshire, UK; Sculpture al Fresco II at Great Fosters, Egham, UK (curated by Marcelle Joseph); Middlemarch, Brussels; Fokidos 21, Athens; Fokidos off-site in St Moritz, Switzerland; and Hannah Barry Gallery in London. 

    He co-founded Fokidos 21, an artist-led project space in Athens, in 2013, and Poetry Readings and a Poetry Press, Friary Road House in London in 2010.  Dowler also initiated Lyndhurst Way, an artist run-squat that existed in Peckham in 2006-2007.
