He had astrologers and magicians to come before him but none of those people could tell him about his dream. Because of wisdom given to Daniel by God, he was able to interpret the King’s dream.

This episode shows how Daniel would not defile himself and be a part of the idolatry in the culture around him. In other words, he refused to compromise and go along with the crowd taking into himself what everyone was partaking of and defile himself with the king’s idolatrous food.
The fruit of not defiling himself can be seen in v. 15, 17, and 20.
15 A better appearance.
17 Better knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom.
20 Ten times better than the king’s people

In this episode Jonah was told by the God to go preach to the people of Nineveh. First Jonah tried to flee the presence of the Lord by jumping a ship to Tarshish which ended with Jonah in
the belly of a fish. God spared his life and ordered him a second time to go preach to the people of Nineveh. This time Jonah obeyed and let the people know that the Lord would destroy their city unless they repented, the people repented. Because this is not the message that Jonah wanted to give to the people of Nineveh, he became angry with God and asked God to let him die, but God did not grant his wish. Jonah wanted a God who would punish evil.
Question for the LISTENERS: Can we accept and love God as God is?
