EP 5 Lee Phyiscal Therpaist with POTS & long haul COVID‪.‬ Real COVID Stories

    • Dokumentär

Lee is a physical therapist who has suffered from POTS most of her life.

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a condition that affects blood flow. POTS causes the development of symptoms -- usually lightheadedness, fainting  and an uncomfortable, rapid increase in heartbeat -- that come on when  standing up from a reclining position and relieved by sitting or lying  back down.

Many people who have had COVID19 are now affected by POTS symptoms.

Lee shares what it has been like having her POTS symptoms exasperated as a result of COVID, and gives great tips on how to exercise safely when recovering from COVID.

Lee's website has videos that talk about her personal and  professional journey with POTS along with a question and answer video on  the program itself.
It is a five day a week, five month exercise  program that starts at the basics for those who want to manage their  POTS symptoms.

Research shows that exercise benefits those with POTS 2  ways :
1- it builds blood volume and
2- It increases muscle strength in the legs and core which will help  compress lower body blood vessels.

This will help to push pooling blood  back up to the heart and brain.

Ultimately, it will help decrease many POTS symptoms in standing.  It is a long term management approach  to POTS which unfortunately is very common after COVID infection.
