Today we’re launching The Old Hollywood Times official podcast with an episode dedicated to the career and death of Carole Lombard. In this episode, host Wesley Emblidge talks with Dr. Emily Carman, professor of film studies at Chapman University’s Dodge College, whose book “Independent Stardom: Freelance Women in the Hollywood Studio System” looks partly at Lombard’s career, and how she worked as a freelance agent rather than with one studio. We discuss this, along with one of our favorite Lombard films, “My Man Godfrey”, in the episode.
