Evolver the Podcast Erin Shaw

This first installment in the newly revamped Evolver podcast features two interviews and a song.

First, Chris Hopkins of Evolver Sacramento interviews Charles Eisenstien, author of Sacred Economics: Money, Gift, and Society in the Age of Transition, on gift culture and the social evolution of exchange.

“Today we put the cart before the horse," Eisenstein says. "We mortgage our choices to the necessity of making a living . . . the incentive structure that’s built into money, because of the way that it’s created and circulated, incentivizes us to do the things we don’t want to do.”

“The [GDP] economy could shrink and we could become better off if there are other ways that we’re meeting our needs . . . contrary to an economist’s view, it’s not shrinking our well-being.”

Next, Robin Gunkel of Evolver Baltimore interviews Anne Waldman, poet, activist, and co-founder with Allen Ginsberg of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics. Anne discusses her experience with Buddhism, Outrider poetics, Maria Sabina’s inspiration, and how to continue community engagement in the Kali Yuga age.

“Don’t be a dilettante," says Waldman. "Know where you’re putting your attention . . . don’t be naïve, know the science, and be articulate on behalf of other life forms.”

“I think we have to work with language, not just another language but . . . finding a language that’s not of Empire, command, martial and so on.”

This podcast closes with Anne’s musical performance of the poem Avalokiteshvara from her album The Milk of Universal Kindness.

In this extended clip from the Evolver Intensive Awakening the Cosmic Serpent, Jeremy Narby talks with Kathleen Harrison about her extensive research with the Mazatec shamanic tradition of Mexico, what they taught her about plants and the "energetic carrying capacity of nature," psilocybin mushrooms, Tobacco and ways for those addicted in the West to heal this relationship with a misused sacred plant.

Next up we have Erin Shaw talking with Naada Guerra. Naada holds workshops on the power of language and how to change our realities by changing the way we use it. In this interview Erin and Naada get into some of the ways we can move towards Empowering Language and more towards the next evolutionary shift.

Graham Hancock has embarked on his first journey of fiction with his most recent novel Entangled. They discussed some of Daniel's visionary ideas on the turning of the new age, and some of the amazing things going on in the world today to help usher in this change. Evolver the Podcast: Sacred Psychedelics and Their Transformative Power

In this episode we have discussions with two amazing individuals about their journey and transformation with Psychedelics.

First up we have Evolver co-founder Jonathan Talat Phillips interviewing Reality Sandwich contributor Adam Elenbaas about his new book, Fishers of Men: The Gospel of an Ayahuasca Vision Quest. Adam discusses his journey from being a “hell-damning” fundamentalist Christian to recovering from drug addiction and healing himself and his family line through ayahuasca ceremonies in the Amazon. He shares his encounters with mystical beings and inter-dimensional creatures during his adventures with this shamanic brew, as well as his thoughts on why Jesus was the social activist version of the Buddha, how there is nothing to fear in the entire cosmos, and ways we might redeem modern Christianity.

Next up I interviewed Isabella Stoloff who is the Evolver Regional coordinator for Evolver Orange County. She is also a practicing Shaman and heads up the Orange County Healing Center. She tells a little about how she came to be involved with Evolver through her Shamanic work in the Amazon. Finally we have another amazing story of transformation with Jennifer Palmer interviewing Charles Shaw talking about his journey, and how he had been “paroled from hell”. Charles has been a long time contributor with Reality Sandwich, he has also spoken at a number of different Evolver Spores. Currently his book “Exile Nation: Drugs, Prisons, Politics & Spirituality” is being released chapter by chapter on Reality Sandwich, the most recent installation was chapter 12. Charles is also about to kick off his “Light and Shadow: Exploring Personal & Cultural Transformation” tour. The tour will be visiting over thirty cities and will feature both Charles Shaw and Michael Garfield. While on the road Charles will be shooting for his upcoming documentary project “Unheard Voices”. This is my favorite episode we've done so far. We have three amazing interviews. The first is an interview with Jonathan Talat Phillips interviewing Gary Lachman the rockstar (Guitarist for Blondie) turned occult author. The focus of this interview is to discuss Gary's new book Jung the Mystic.

The next interview is a conversation between me and Baza Novic, one of the regional coordinators from Evolver LA. We talked about his involvement with Evolver and how it has been driven by his esoteric practice. The Interview is opened with a meditation from Baza.

Last we have an interview with Raymond Wiley, that was conducted by Jennifer Palmer. This was a real treat for me. A couple years ago when I first got into the counter culture and the occult my sort of crash course was Raymond's podcast Out There Radio, which I was introduced to from the first Disinformation podcast that he did, and it's been a crazy ride every since. It was awesome to be able to do a podcast with Raymond. This interview is a fantastic conversation between Jennifer and Raymond about the "occult" in a very broad way. Raymond also discusses the importance he feels there is in us recognizing the rich history of the Western Esoteric practice. If you would like to listen to more of Raymond like I mentioned he has a 50 episode series called "Out There Radio" and he is also doing the Disinformation podcasts. Check them out!
