    Using College Soccer as a Platform for the Next Level: Peabo Doue and Barth-Luther Mouafo

    Listen in as I catch up with two close friends, and two former D.C. United Academy products, Peabo Doue and Barth Mouafo.  We discuss the recruiting process as they remember it, how the D.C. United Academy and opportunities for young players have evolved since they were getting recruited, and what a professional soccer environment looks like.     

    Peabo Doue is originally from Takoma Park, Maryland and played in the D.C. United Academy.  He attended West Virginia University before going on to a seven year career as a professional soccer player.  Peabo played professionally for Phoenix FC, Oklahoma City Energy, Wilmington Hammerheads, Jacksonville Armada, North Carolina FC, and Loudoun United, before retiring in 2020.  

    Barth-Luther Mouafo was born in Douala, Cameroon before relocating to the DMV.  He played in the D.C. United Academy before attending Montverde Academy in Florida.  Barth played college soccer at Gardner Webb and The University of Akron.  He currently works in the D.C. United Academy as a Staff Coach with the U16 and U17 teams.

    Listen as I have a conversation with my good friend Jason Boxx as he details the college soccer recruiting process that he experienced as a young foreign player in England.  Jason details an incredible journey experiencing 3 different colleges, across two states and two different divisions of American college soccer as he attended Cayuga Community College in New York, University of West Alabama, and SUNY Cortland.   

    Jason Boxx is the Director of International Admissions and the Head Boys Soccer Coach at the Calverton School.  He also coaches locally with Arlington Soccer Club.  He has past experiences with the D.C. United Academy and Loudoun United.

United U17 Academy Nate Baker.  Nate is from the DMV and is a Former Assistant Coach with NCAA DI schools with The United States Naval Academy and Nebraska Omaha.  Nate played locally for NCAA DI American University in Washington D.C. and is a former student athlete at Saint Johns High School in D.C.  

    We discuss ways to communicate with college coaches, the unique parts of attending and playing for a service academy, program culture, building programs from the ground up, and ways to stand out from other players.

    NCAA Division I College Soccer Recruiting and Foreign Experiences: Matt Arrington

    In this episode I am joined by my friend Matt Arrington.  Matt is currently an Assistant Coach with the D.C. United U17 academy team and the CEO of Arrington Training and Development, a one stop shop for soccer players including technical work, injury rehabilitation and strength and conditioning.   Matt is a former Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Howard University.  

    We discuss Matt's playing background in the DMV area and what he remembers about his college recruiting process.  We also speak about his decision to attend George Mason and his decision to leave college soccer early after his sophomore year to pursue opportunities and experiences in Italy.  We also briefly touch upon navigating the college recruiting process through the current COVID-19 Pandemic.  

    Matt Arrington played for Walt Whitman High School and Olney Soccer Club, as well as Bethesda Soccer Club as a youth player in the DMV.

    NAIA and NCAA Division II College Soccer Recruiting: Andrew Banadda and DJ Short

    In this episode of the Podcast we are joined by Andrew Banadda and DJ Short to discuss two divisions that people have a lot of questions about, NAIA and NCAA Division II.   

    Andrew Banadda is currently the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach with Washington Adventist University, a NAIA school in Takoma Park, Maryland.  He played at Middlebury (NCAA DIII), helping the program win the 2007 National Championship. 

    David "DJ" Short is currently the Associate Men's Soccer Coach with Queens University, a NCAA Division II program in Charlotte, NC.  DJ played with  Queens from 2007-2011 and has been a part of the coaching staff for 9 years dating back to 2011.   

    We discuss rules and regulations, recruiting tactics across the divisions, budgets, roster make ups and what people do not know about these divisions.  Enjoy!
