Pietro Lo Casto | Inward photography and posthumanism

    Episode Notes
Pietro Lo Casto is an ascending star in the world of photography. After a few years of working in tech, starting with Apple in London, where we met, Pietro went on a quest to revisit his way of life and found a few clues in Asia. Before earning a full scholarship for an MFA in Visual Arts at Chiang Mai University, Thailand, he studied photography at the Pathshala Institute, Bangladesh. Launched into the public eye after becoming a Canon award-winner only two years after starting his practice, his work makes us questions our relationship with the natural world we live in and examine how we cohabit with native and often displaced inhabitants of a place, humans or not. You can follow Pietro's work on Instagram @pietrolocasto or his website pietrolocasto.com

Alex Polise | Hand stands and Mount Kilimanjaro

By day, Alex is a software engineer at Bulb, a renewable energy company. By night, she's a singer, composer and what I call an artist of life. She studied neurosciences at John Hopkins in Maryland, computer science at Imperial college London, and co-founded Some Whimsy—an art / screen printed t-shirt company. In this interview we talk about how she — in her own words —  enjoys sitting inside her computer, how handstands changed her life, creating a business, shopping on top of Mount Kilimanjaro and her favourite pair of shoes. You can follow her on twitter @alexpolise.

Foncėne Voices is a podcast series produced by Foncėne—a London-based vegan shoe brand—hosted by co-founder PJ Baudoin. To understand what makes a shoe lasting and timeless, PJ asked independent thinkers, creatives, entrepreneurs and artists: ‘what shoes would you never let go of?’. They share with us how they live, work and move, consciously—presenting new ways of thinking about sustainability and long-term thinking. The interviews will be published in a visual coffee-table book but the raw recordings are an accidental piece of magic. In this podcast, you get to experience their undiluted power. These interviews were recorded prior to 2020's Covid-19 pandemic but their relevance still stands—perhaps even more so. We hope you enjoy.
