EPISODE 3: SAYING NO WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE

Hey beautiful! In today’s show we’re talking about how the word “NO” will save your life.

Often in our journey, we say yes to everything with little acknowledgement of what is tied to it.

All we know is that in most cases, we feel like we are obligated to say yes.

Why is that? Why do we feel obligated to say yes? And why do we feel guilty when saying no?

Listen to Episode 3 to hear more.

IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL DISCOVER:

    ● The # 1 reason why we hesitate to say no.

    ● The misunderstanding revolving around the word no.

    ● How saying no can save your life.

    MENTIONS FROM THE PODCAST:

    ● “The word no being anointed”, an excerpt from book Girl, Get Off the Couch by Dr. Radisha Brown

SUMMARY: SAYING NO WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE

It’s time to talk about two words that are the most commonly used words. However, one has the power to release life, while the other can bring upon death.

I know it’s harsh to say, but it’s time to save your life sis.

How often do you say no? Now think about how often you say yes. Which one do you feel more obligated to say?

Most likely you find yourself always saying yes to something because you feel like it’s your job, duty, or obligation to fulfill whatever is being asked of you.

But think about it… how many times has saying yes to something left you tired? How many times has saying yes left you exhausted and drained?

Whether you want to admit it or not, most of the time saying yes (even when you should say no) is linked to guilt.

The issue here is that saying yes when you shouldn’t is saying no to your needs, wants, and desires.

In this podcast show I share a couple of stories where saying yes or no was literally linked to physical health and wellness. One mom’s declaration of no helped her lose (and keep off) 60 lbs!

You see, saying no is something that you have to get comfortable with. It’s sort of like a skill that needs practice.

I like to say that the word no is anointed. It’s a word that carries importance. And it’s powerful.

It’s so powerful, it has the ability to shift your health and wellness. But first, you have to be okay with saying it, and without giving an excuse. It’s time to get comfortable saying the word no, girlfriend.

Your challenge today is to practice saying the word no. Get in the mirror and start saying no. Eventually you’ll be empowered and comfortable to say no instead of feeling guilt-led into saying yes.

SUMMARY: KNOW YOUR FRENEMY ON YOUR WELLNESS JOURNEY

Alright, girlfriend. It’s time that we start exposing the frenemies that can sabotage your wellness journey and goals.

The frenemy we are going to expose in this episode is one that is charming, sweet, and tastes oh so good. Although it tastes good, it can destroy you from the inside.

This frenemy is called SUGAR, and it has to go!

Sugar is an ingredient that is not only addicting, but is also used by lots of companies to help you become addicted to their products.

Think of how hard it is to part with sodas, sweet teas, and even some of the healthiest seasonings (more about this later).

Before jumping ahead, I want to talk about the side effects of sugar.

Did you know sugar is linked to depression? It sure is!

Have you ever felt feelings that you can’t quite explain but you know they are feelings of sadness, slowness, or even down right depression? That’s sugar for ya!

I remember trying to change my eating, not realizing just how deep sugar was embedded in some of the more “healthy” things I was choosing to eat. What I didn’t realize was that companies have become cunning with how they use sugar.

It now carries over 50 different names. Some you may be familiar with, like fructose corn syrup. Yep, that’s sugar.

It wasn’t until I attended a class that went into the depth of how sugar works and how it’s subtly hidden. I was shocked to know that some seasonings even have sugar in them!

Girlfriend, at this point I had to start with a blank slate. I had to start from scratch and figure this thing out.

I didn’t want to continue being a product of obesity, nor watching my sisters around me fall victim to the same health issues. Enough is enough.

So what I’ve been able to do is take the things I’ve lived - both the good and the bad - and help other women shortcut their journey through my experiences.

I want to help you avoid situations like what I encountered. With that being said, I have a challenge for you… Get familiar with the various names of sugar and start reading your labels. You may be surprised how many things sugar is hiding in.

Let’s ditch the sugar frenemy girlfriend!
