Although my mother was very secretive and guarded about her past, I did piece together enough to get an overall picture of how things went down for the first 5 years of my life. From the marriages, boyfriends (I know, stick with me) to the loans and lawsuits. The first 5 was a bit crazy for a kid.There is so much more to this picture than meets the eye. Welcome to Growing Up In The Closet, A Straight Son's Story. 

At 50 years old, I want to share my story of growing up in a gay household, at a time when doing so was just as dangerous for me as for my parent. I learned to lie, cheat and deceive at an early age, for my own protection. Though not gay myself, I have directly been a member of the gay community for over 50 years. The first 15 were the most interesting of them, as I also had the experience of growing up with a misandrist mother I never understood. I want to share those experiences now. I do not have the patience or writing ability to share my ideas in print, so I am going to create a podcast to share my experiences growing up in the prairies in the 70's and 80's. Perhaps in the future, I may seek assistance to get this written down, but for now, I will provide you my story in my own words.
