    A Worthy Life

    A Worthy Life

    Introduction:

    A Worthy Life (Philippians 1:27-29):

Stand firm in Unity . (Phil 1:27)
Phil 2:3-4 - Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Have no Fear . (Phil 1:28)
Isaiah 41:10 - Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Phil 4:6-7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus.

Receive the Gift of Suffering. (Phil 1:29)

What was your big take-away from this passage / message?
We’re called to strive in unity with fellow believers. Read Philippians 2:3-4. In light of this verse, what specifically is keeping you from striving in unity with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ? What can you do, or what do you need to change over the next month to improve in this area? Be specific.
We’ve all experienced fear, but let’s encourage one another on this one. Share a time in your life when you experienced the emotion of fear, but you trusted God and saw Him deliver you from your fears. How did you do this, and what was the result?
Read Acts 5:41. Have you accepted your free gift of suffering and rejoiced that you have been counted worthy to suffer for his name? Or are you rejecting the gift and replacing the rejoicing with anger, frustration, and desperation. Be honest. Be specific.

BreakoutTake time to lift each member of your group up in prayer specifically about what they’ve shared this evening.

What ARE We Waiting For? There Are Only Two Options

    Introduction:

Are You a Sheep or a Goat? (Matthew 25:31-46):

Jesus Knows who is who. (Matthew 25:31-33)
Hebrews 9:27 - And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment...

Sheep are known by their Compassion . (Matthew 25:34-40)
Ephesians 2:8-10 - For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Revelation 22:12 - Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.

Am I Compassionate? 3 Marks You Have True Compassion:

    You take Action .

You aren't doing it for people to Notice .
Matthew 3:8 - Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

You aren't looking for something in Return .
Philippians 1:6 - And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Goats are known by their Lack of Compassion . (Matthew 25:41-45)
2 Thessalonians 1:9 - They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might...

Matthew 7:21-23 - Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

Your destination is Eternal . (Matthew 25:46)

What was your big take-away from this passage / message?
We are judged based on our works (See Revelation 21:12.) Since we can’t be saved by our good works, why are works the basis for judgment? How does this tie into Jesus' teaching in Matthew 25:31-46?
What kinds of works will Jesus evaluate on this day of judgment (Matt 25:35-36,42-43)? Since Jesus is speaking to believers at the end of the Tribulation, how does this principle apply now?
How would you respond to this statement:? “If hell is real, it’s only temporary. Eventually God either brings everyone to heaven or just wipes out of existence those who have rejected Him.”

What ARE We Waiting For? Watch the Signs

    Introduction:

3 Reasons to Believe History Is Going to Go Down as Jesus Said (Matthew 24:32-35):

The Signs are still happening. (Matthew 24:32-33)

    1206-1324 - Mongol Conquests (40-70 mil)
1562-1598 - French Wars of Religion (2-4 mil)
1616-1662 - Qing Dynasty Conquered Ming (25 mil)
    1803-1815 - Napoleonic Wars (3.5 - 6 mil)
    1850-1864 - Taiping Rebellion (20 mil)

2 Timothy 3:1-4 - But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God...

Israel is still going strong. (Matthew 24:34)
Matthew 23:33-36 - You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell? Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and dpersecute from town to town, so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of gZechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between hthe sanctuary and ithe altar. Truly, I say to you, jall these things will come upon this generation.

Jesus' Words still prevail. (Matthew 24:35)
